Rihanna On Chris Martin: "He's One Of The Best People I've Ever Met"; Ricky Gervais on Coldplay: "You have to applaud the band's attitude"
Rihanna has spoken exclusively to Capital FM about working with Coldplay on 'Princess Of China', and she described Chris Martin as "one of the best people" she's ever met. The singer, who features on Coldplay's new single 'Princess Of China', said she enjoyed hanging out with the band whenever they get together.
Speaking exclusively to Capital FM about her relationship with Chris, Rihanna said: "He is awesome. I only got to hang out with the band a couple of times, like at the Grammys. Chris Martin, he's one of the best people I've ever met, like, genuinely a great person, so sincere. I enjoy hanging out with them every time."
Coldplay and Rihanna recently shot the video for 'Princess Of China', which is expected to be unveiled imminently, and Coldplay are among the artists set to perform at Capital FM's Summertime Ball at London's Wembley Stadium next month. Meanwhile, Ricky Gervais has also spoken up for Coldplay, saying they do not deserve some of the criticism they receive, even if they aren't "the coolest band in the world". Comedian Gervais made the statement in the latest issue of Q, in which he shows his appreciation for big bands who play things "straight down the line". Chris Martin and Gervais have previous with the Chris appearing in an episode of the sitcom "Extras".
Discussing the band, Gervais said: "Coldplay. There's obviously a backlash against them." Adding: "When you meet them they're nice, funny, normal people who are trying to be excellent at something. You can only applaud that. You can dislike their stuff but you can only applaud that attitude, you know?"
