Sarah McLachlan on Coldplay...

In an interview with Gary Graff [freelancer] Sarah McLachlan has said, "As far as I know, up until a couple of months ago, [Coldplay's] Chris Martin had never heard of my music. Someone presented the idea of us writing together, and he was like, Who's Sarah McLachlan?

"And Gwyneth [Paltrow, Chris Martin's wife] said, You don't know who this is?! Sit down and listen to this . . .' Gwyneth's my gal. She stood up for me."

McLachlan, however, says that she is most definitely "inspired by other artists. I'm totally inspired by this Coldplay record [A Rush of Blood to the Head']; the songs are so beautiful, the whole sonic thing is so gorgeous. That's not to say I want to sound like them; it's just nice when you hear other things that really connect with me."
