Spike Island 2006 Gets Licence

austincitylimits.jpgHalton Council have given permission for a three day music event to take place at the Spike Island park in Widnes this year.

Councillor Rob Polhill said: "This event is set to be the biggest concert here in ten years and it is appropriate that it is taking place at Spike Island, where the Stone Roses played their famous concert."

The festival is believed to be taking place on 27-29 May with former Stone Rose Ian Brown (pictured), Oasis and Coldplay rumoured to headline.

Spike Island, a former industrial site on the River Mersey, was etched into rock history on 9 June, 1990, when The Stone Roses performed there at the height of their heyday.
