The Sun: Coldplay tour jinxed by illness

chrismartin2008a.jpgChris Martin must have smashed a mirror, walked under a ladder, opened an umbrella indoors and left new trainers on the table. Coldplay been hit by a run of stinking bad luck that is blighting the band’s world tour, report The Sun newspaper online today.

Chris was forced to cancel a show in Saratoga Springs, New York, on Wednesday after losing his voice. He has also been in agony after burning his arm on scorching hot electrical equipment backstage. And spells of appalling weather at Coldplay’s Stateside outdoor shows have been putting a real dampener on audience spirits.

They broke the latest bad news on their official website. The statement said: “We’re sorry to report that Coldplay have been forced to postpone due to illness. They have asked us to apologise for the inconvenience but we are currently in the process of re-arranging the show for another date.”

I (The Sun) went on tour with the lads last year and I can tell you Chris goes to extraordinary pains to make sure he is fit for gigs. He always carries a wee bottle of anti-bacterial handwash to give his paws a scrub every time he shakes hands with fans. The boys also take a fitness trainer on tour to keep them in tip-top shape.

And they have a special catering team to make sure they are well fuelled with healthy grub. A t’internet video clip was posted recently showing Chris discussing his doctor’s advice not to perform. Sounds like the quack has finally got through. Which is just as well. The boys have another 35 dates to play on their Viva La Vida tour in America before they land on our shores again in September.

Get some whisky down the old pipes, Chris, you’ll be right as rain in no time.
