UK festival that launched Coldplay expanding to the US

In The City is set to branch out this year, with two separate new bands showcases in New York.

 

The Manchester institution has been a platform for the likes of Radiohead, Coldplay and Arctic Monkeys in their early days and now it is hoped more bands will gain exposure stateside. The first of the two events lined up takes place at the Nokia Theatre in Times Square on June 13 to 14.

 

The shows will feature a headline UK act and also an unsigned artist selected from the In The City event in Manchester last autumn. A plethora of US artists will also play gigs around the Big Apple.
