Coldplay song Viva La Vida has picked up an Ivor Novello award today. Here is Anchorman with more details:
Good afternoon. At today's Ivor Novello awards in London, Viva La Vida won the award for Best Selling British Song. The Ivor Novellos honour "excellence in British music writing", so it's a welcome addition to the band's collective mantelpiece. Coldplay and Duffy led the Ivor Novello nominations this year with three each. Both were up for Best Selling British Song award along for Mercy and Viva La Vida. Coldplay also competed for the Album Award for for Viva La Vida or Death And All His Friends. Coldplay's final nomination came in the Most Performed Work category, again for Viva La Vida. The Ivor Novello Awards, named after the Cardiff born entertainer Ivor Novello, are awards for songwriting and composing. The "Ivors" are presented annually in London by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA), and were first introduced in 1955.
