    Q. Hi Oracle! The concert on Saturday in Auckland was absolutely incredible! it was by far the best concert and best night of my life!! We camped out from 7am to get front row which we did! There was amazing video footage throughout the night, I am wondering how we could get this? There were alot of times that we came up on the screens and I would like to see it again!! Many thanks and cant wait for them to come back down under!!

    The Oracle replies:

You can't actually get a copy because it wasn't recorded footage. It's live transmissions if you'll pardon the pun. That live video feed is for the show only and not available beyond that. When I watched Live 2012 I did think how amazing it must be for the fans to be immortalised on film forever but that's obviously not going to be possible for every single show. It's still pretty cool to be on the screens at a gig I reckon.

    Q. I saw Live 2012 in the movies yesterday and I'm totally blown away. It's so well shot and edited, a must-have for any coldplay fan!! Anyways, I was wondering, since they showed some of their stage technicians - did we see #Roadie 42 without even knowing it??

    The Oracle replies:

A ha! Well... I watched the film and guess who I was sat next to? IF #Roadie 42 came on screen, maybe I nudged him and pointed! Maybe. If he was in it that is.

    Q. Dear Oracle, Tomorrow is my sister's birthday and I just don't know what to get her! She's turning 17 and I really want to do something special for her. She's loves Coldplay as much as I do, so I was thinking pre-ordering the 2012 Live DVD for her would be perfect. But my other sister went ahead and took her to the movie on Nov. 13th as an early birthday gift. And so I really don't know what to do. I want to get her something special and I'm out of ideas! Help me please!

    The Oracle replies:

If your sis enjoyed the film, I'd still consider getting her the DVD so she can watch it again over and over. We have a shop on this site so maybe some merch - a poster perhaps. Or if your sister has Coldplay albums but not singles, you could buy her the b side tracks maybe? If you're worried about the budget, I like the idea of homemade gifts: framed photos/ paintings, MX symbol inspired jewellry - get creative!

    Q. Hi Oracle, I saw Chris posted a picture on twitter of 'his view inside the studio'. Why were they at a studio? Thanks.

    The Oracle replies:

Well Walter, you know that thing that musicians usually go into a studio for? Well, that's why. That's not unusual by the way but that's all I will say.

The eagle-eyed amongst you who also follow Jon Hopkins will have seen his recent photo tweets about a studio too and whaddya know there he is in the background of Chris' pic.

    Q. Are Coldplay performing on children in need this year? Do we know if anything has been said about it?

    The Oracle replies:

As you may know the band are currently touring in Australia and as far as I know, there's no pre-recorded performance. I know that last year they took part in the M.E.N Arena show curated by Gary Barlow but that's not been repeated this year.

    Q. Hi Oracle, I was sitting in the West Stand at the show in Auckland, and after it finished a man turned around and chatted to me about what I thought of the show. He was an older man with white hair and a posh English accent. He was wearing a red VIP badge and he looked strangely familiar. My question is... did I meet Chris Martin's dad??

    The Oracle replies:

Well, I wouldn't have thought that he'd still be sitting there at the end unless the band weren't doing a runner that night. Anyway, in one of Roadie #42's recent blogs there's a photo of his Dad playing cricket at the venue earlier in the day, so maybe you will be able to see from that if it was indeed Mr. Martin.

November 13, 2012 - submitted by Safa, France

    Q. Hi Oracle ! I know the boys don't like to see themselves performing but do you know if they already saw LIVE 2012 ? And what did they think about it ? Thanks xx from France .

    The Oracle replies:

Hi Safa, well it's completely different when it comes to releasing a film. They would certainly have to watch themselves as it's important, nay, imperative that they are happy with what is going to be out there. If they weren't happy with the finished article, they wouldn't release it so therefore yes, they have seen it and are happy with it. Hope you are too!

    Q. Hi Oracle, yesterday I bought a hamster. He's so cute, but he has no name. Have you an idea? Thanks alot!

    The Oracle replies:

There's only one name that comes to my mind when I think of a hamster and that's Basil. Basil suits him don't you think?

November 13, 2012 - submitted by Andres, Portugal

    Q. Hi Oracle. I wanna ask you this. in the cinemas, is it going to be shown the gig in Paris, the documentary or both?

    The Oracle replies:

It's so weird to think that because of time differences on this vast planet of ours, people will have just come out of the cinema having already watched it! Wow. Anyway, to answer your question - there is no documentary. It's not like Live 2003 where there are two very separate parts. This film is a live concert with the occasional glimpse into the backstage world narrated by each band member.

November 12, 2012 - submitted by Guillaume, Canada

    Q. Hi Oracle, Could you tell me which songs on the live 2012 film will be from the Montreal show ? Thanks !

    The Oracle replies:

As you will see soon, each time the destination changes, text appears on the screen telling you where the footage is from - apart from the backstage stuff. You'll be able to tell though.

    November 12, 2012 - submitted by Dorothea , Austria

    Q. Hello there, dear Oracle! As the day of the Coldplay Live evening in theatres gets closer and closer... I am wondering what is in your opinion the best seat? Close to the screen - as in live experience "being closest to the band" OR a little bit more in the back area for having a good overview? :) I already made a ticketreservation but now I am not sure if they are too close to the screen and i will change it... Not an easy decision... maybe this sounds weird.. but it is! Thank you very much for your help! Have a nice one! Greets from Austria, Dorothea

    The Oracle replies:

Are we all excited? Yay! It's not a daft question because as you say, there are options and you'd think it may be the same choice you'd make for a live show.

Not the case for me. At a gig I want to be right at the front. At the cinema I like to be further back. Usually I'm a halfway back, aisle seat kind of watcher but for Live 2012, I was back row all the way!

November 12, 2012 - submitted by Fraser, United Kingdom

    Q. On your first introduction to Oracle, you mentioned that you were good at soups. What would be your choice of soup to impress a lady coming round to your place for a first dinner date? I need something quick yet tasty. I'm thinking carrot and corriander? Any ideas?

    The Oracle replies:

Ooh Frase, I'm not so sure about carrot & coriander dude. It's great but a pretty safe bet. I think you could show off a little more. How about a cheeky borscht (without vodka if you're under the age to legally drink booze)? It's easy but looks pretty impressive*. You can crumble feta cheese on top. I like a nice Thai chicken or fish soup too. Also high on my list is red pepper, tomato & chilli and French onion soup is always a winner. Make sure you check before a first date whether your guest is vegetarian or has any food allergies. *This maybe too much information but you'll thank me for it. If you opt for anything with beetroot, DO NOT be alarmed if you notice that when you go to the loo, the colour of "stuff" is red. That's the food's effect so don't panic.

November 12, 2012 - submitted by Violet, United States of America

    Q. Hello Oracle! I was just wondering, so as you know Coldplay is doing some concerts in the U.S again with Jay Z. I was just curious is the concert Coldplay's or is it Jay Z's? I like both of them equally but I am curious to know! Hope you reply! (:

    The Oracle replies:

It's a co-headline show. Though not unusual, it is a somewhat peculiar concept given 2 acts can't perform their sets at the same time. What it means is that both are sharing the top billing. It's not yet been revealed who will go on first/last. I wouldn't be surprised if - like last time - there were a few shared moments and surprises lined up for the evening. It is New Year's Eve after all...

November 8, 2012 - submitted by Jeremy, United States of America

    Q. Dear Oracle, I saw a tracklist for Live 2012 from the official announcement on this very website, and I have to say, it's rather disappointing. Not that the songs are bad, but where's The Scientist, Politik, Shiver, and Lost!? Why can't Violet Hill be available on the DVD. I did pre-order a copy, but I just was curious. Thanks, Jeremy

    The Oracle replies:

The DVD is made up of the majority of the show but not every song performed was included. Violet Hill is on the DVD though - but just not on the CD. Lost! or Shiver weren't on the MX Tour set list. Neither was Politik at all actually. Some songs were only played a handful of times and that's why they were omitted. The Scientist was in the set & as far as I know is included as a bonus track as is Don't Let It Break Your Heart.

November 8, 2012 - submitted by Kristin, United Kingdom

    Q. Hey Oracle! I'm so excited that I can go see the live film, since I'm studying in London, but that night I'm supposed to go see Les Mis. Will the film only be played once that night? And if it is would skipping Les Mis be a bad choice? Love Kristin

    The Oracle replies:

The film is for one night only. Les Miserables is one of my all time favourite musicals - there's a new film of that coming out soon (I cannot wait). Although you could always go to see Les Mis again on another night, I definitely wouldn't if I was going to lose the money paid for the tickets. If you find someone to go in your place, that wouldn't be as bad. I have to say though, the film will be out on DVD a few days later so don't worry too much about not getting to the cinema. It'd be ace if you can but not the end of the world.

November 8, 2012 - submitted by Ben, United Kingdom

    Q. Dear Oracle, At the end of the Paradise video when the Chris elephant meets the rest of the 'elephant band' in the savannah, is it actually the band members in the costumes or just actors? Thanks! :)

    The Oracle replies:

Yes, it really was the whole band involved in being the elephant band. That was a long, hot day!

    Q. Hello Oracle, I was wondering, as the Melbourne concert (13.11.12) is at the very end of the Mylo Xyloto tour, if there was any chance we'd hear any Christmas Lights or the like? I mean it would be just about the closest the tour gets to Christmas time. People have told me it's too early for Christmas music - but is it ever truly too early for Christmas? Cheers.

    The Oracle replies:

Is it ever too early for Christmas? In my book, anything before 24th December is too early. Ha ha. Now the UK has had our last tradition before Christmas (5th November - Guy Fawkes night) we'll be hearing Christmas songs in-store any day now. I have actually almost finished my Christmas shopping though and am more than happy to start drinking mulled wine. Carols, trees, cards and decorations will all have to wait until the week before. Anyway, Christmas Lights won't be making a November appearance. I'm pretty sure last December it only made it into two live shows' sets; Dingwalls and the Under 1 Roof charity gig. *EDIT: Thanks Raphaele & Jasmin who inform me that Berlin also got to hear it last December.

    Q. Is it just me; (or are) Radiohead transforming into a Jazz act?

    The Oracle replies:

No that I've noticed, no. King Of Limbs was described in parts as dubstep - but that's not a form of jazz.

November 7, 2012 - submitted by Michael, Ireland

    Q. Hi Oralce. Yesterday Chris Evans announced on live radio that Coldplay would play on December 3rd in Glasgow, Manchester on the 4th and London on the 9th. Exactly the same dates as last year... Is it true or did he just, mistakenly, wake up in 2011?

    The Oracle replies:

I think he woke up in 2011. Those dates are indeed from last year and we're not repeating them. Anchorman tweeted that the dates were incorrect. Sorry about that.

November 6, 2012 - submitted by Andrew, United Kingdom

    Q. I've been searching through eBay to purchase the Charlie Brown and Hurts Like Heaven singles however I find it quite odd that they are selling in excess of £40 whereas older, possibly rarer, items can be found for half the price. Is there a particular reason for this?

    The Oracle replies:

Well Andrew, you're not strictly trying to purchase the singles as they weren't physically released as singles. The items you see are all promo cds and they are always more because they're not meant for public sale so are deemed as rare, collectible items.

November 6, 2012 - submitted by Mark, United Kingdom

    Q. Hi Oracle, I've seen some of the previews of the MX film, and I'm disappointed with the crowd in Paris. I always think Chris is frustrated with the crowds when he says 'make some noise' or 'is anyone out there?'. At the two gigs I went to, M.E.N. last December and Ricoh in May, he most definitely knew we were there, and couldn't possibly make any more noise, even if we tried. So why were some of the British gigs not included.

    Thanks, Mark

    The Oracle replies:

I have to disagree Mark. I was at the Paris show and I assure you he's not saying either of those things because the crowd was quiet - they were anything but! He actually said "is there anybody out there?" at every stadium gig after the first song (Hurts Like Heaven) before going into In My Place. It gets everyone going - not that anyone needs much encouragement. I understand that everyone will have an opinion on where the DVD was filmed but as I say, I was at the Paris show and think it was a great choice (the majority of it was filmed there by the way, not its entirety). I was also at the same M.E.N gig you mentioned and it was amazing. As that was December 2011, I think that would have been too soon into the tour for the crux of the DVD.

November 6, 2012 - submitted by Safa, France

    Q. Hi Oracle! So Tuesday the 13th of November, as we all know is the preview of Coldplay Live 2012. I just got my tickets and I was wondering if I had to bring my xylobands because I thought that perhaps "they will glow in the dark" for this very special event. Thank you very much :) xx Safa

    The Oracle replies:

Feel free to wear them but I'm afraid not; the only Xylobands that will be flashing on the 13th November will be the ones at the Melbourne show.

They're activated during the gig and even though it won't reach as far as France, their glowing in the dark will feature heavily in the film.

November 5, 2012 - submitted by Lulu, Australia

    Q. Dear Oracle, Can you help me? I don't know whether I should see Coldplay Live at the movies. I really want to go but the one day it is screening is before I see Coldplay when they come. I want the concert to be a "surprise" in a way but I really want to see it at the movies! EEEKK help me!

    The Oracle replies:

I can see your dilemma. The Live 2012 DVD is being previewed - as you know - for one night only in cinemas on 13th November. The exact same film will be released on DVD on the 19th. The band come to Australia 13th - 21st. The only thing is, both are pretty much a once in a lifetime event. If you go to a screening and the gig and watch the DVD, you're 3 out of 3 but you can always watch the DVD after the live show. It won't be the same as the gigantic cinema screen but I'd aim for 2 out of 3. Yes, tempting as it is to see it on the big screen, I personally think I would wait to see it live. That was a tough decision even for me and I've seen both!

November 5, 2012 - submitted by Chloe, Australia

    Q. When you tour does Coldplay only go to the capitals because I live in Cairns and no one famous plays here.

    The Oracle replies:

It's not always Capitals but it is usually cities. They do sometimes play big towns but not everywhere can accommodate the size of the shows in arenas or stadiums. Plus there needs to be consideration for all a show entails like a great transport system and access for large numbers of visitors (parking etc.).

    Q. Hi Oracle!! How's life? :) I was wondering if this was Chris' wife? she is stunning. Thanks in advance! xxoo

    The Oracle replies:

I don't usually comment on personal aspects of the guys' lives but no, that woman is not Chris' wife; it's the director Sofia Coppola. This was taken at a post Oscars party where they were sat next to each other.
