The Invictus Games Anthem Penned by Chris Martin

Invictus Games Anthem

The official Invictus Games Anthem has been released. The London based paralympic sports event, for wounded soldiers worldwide, launched today for a four day period of sporting events in the UK's capital. Chris Martin was keen to help out his royal pal, Prince Harry, who founded the Invictus games and helped pen the track for the games.

There were articles about the Invictus anthem building up from months before the event. They made we us believe Chris was writing the track but the lyrics are infact a poem written by William Ernest Henley. (thanks Greengoose)

Invictus

BY WILLIAM ERNEST HENLEY

Out of the night that covers me,

Black as the pit from pole to pole,

I thank whatever gods may be

For my unconquerable soul.

In the fell clutch of circumstance

I have not winced nor cried aloud.

Under the bludgeonings of chance

My head is bloody, but unbowed.

Beyond this place of wrath and tears

Looms but the Horror of the shade,

And yet the menace of the years

Finds and shall find me unafraid.

It matters not how strait the gate,

How charged with punishments the scroll,

I am the master of my fate,

I am the captain of my soul.

Short and sweet : Chris simply helped write the score to the background music. The anthem can heard in its fully glory below.
