Coldplay to Headline Glastonbury in June

Coldplay have confirmed that they will headline Glastonbury this June. The band will close the three day show on Sunday June 26.

The band confirmed the news this morning through a tweet picturing the frame of the famous pyramid stage alongside a balloon poster with the date of the show.

This will be the sixth time Coldplay have played at Glastonbury in total and the fourth time headlining. In 1999 the band began their Glasto journey in the new tent. While no audio or video is available, we can assume there was a very very small audience! In 2000 they released their debut album Parachutes and found themselves on a larger stage but still not the esteemed pyramid stage. 2002 brought Coldplay's second album A Rush of Blood to the Head and finally a place on the pyramid stage, the bands dream gig! 2005 and 2011 almost became a routine for Coldplay as they've rocked Worthy Farm for three years.

Now in 2016, five years later, Coldplay have released their seventh album A Head Full of Dreams and are almost itching to play the biggest festival in the world! Jeff Lynne's ELO have also been announced as performers at the festival. Drop into our discussion thread to speculate who the other headliners will be!

2016 is proving to be Coldplay's biggest year! The band performed at the Super Bowl alongside Beyonce and Bruno Mars. They have announced dates for their World Tour which is likely to be their biggest tour yet!

Finally if you're not too sold on Coldplay headlining Glastonbury this year or your friends are doubting you, just take a look at this video!
