As we reported back in May and Mid-June, Coldplay were featured in a documentary last Sunday for the South Bank Show. In case you missed it or want to watch it again, you can see the full episode in five parts via YouTube, and you can also find download links via filesharing sites here, at the Multimedia forum. Here's a recap of the documentary: Chris Martin abides by the bizarre ritual which stems from an incident in the group’s early days when his bandmates punished him for sacking their dr

Back in 2002, the Crocodile had a perfect storm of a show, and not-yet-Seattlest was lucky enough to be in attendance for a bill whose lineup still gets followed to this day. The earnest indie rock of Mellowdrone, followed by the Brit-rock-with-tender-voices of both South and Elbow prompted Seattlest to spend more on merch at that show than has been spent since. As album release cycles go, they all still tend to hit Seattle on tour around the same time (Elbow two weeks ago, Mellowdrone soon)

'Chris Martin came across the image and said he wanted it for a Coldplay LP cover' I did this [image] for the fashion magazine Dazed and Confused in the late 1990s. They wanted something with a technological feel, something all white. As a photographer, you try to do stuff that hasn't been done before, which is virtually impossible, so I suggested taking a shot with a three-dimensional scanning machine. These devices use technology that was developed for American air force pilots, to get th

Translated Article The beautiful North American actress Gwyneth Paltrow will come next to her two children, Apple and Moses, to our country accompanying to her Chris husband Martin, singer and leader of the musical group Coldplay, and although all speak perfect the Castilian, the blonde demanded a bilingual “niñera” to avoid any disadvantage. Paltrow already had been of visit in Argentina accompanying to one of her ex’s, the ladyies man and talented actor Brad Pitt, when this one filmed, in

SPIN's Dan Reilly this week has compared Coldplay's new single to Bon Iver in his log-cabins-and-vocoders phase, which isn't too far off the mark. But from a dance-centric point of view, what's most striking is that 'Midnight', with its atmospheric synthesizers, Göttsching-like guitar pings, and abdomen-massaging bass, is just one four-to-the-floor kick drum away from being an Innervisions track, essentially. (Apparently, it was produced by Jon Hopkins, who previously provided "Colours and Ad

Apple's glamorous mom, the still slinky a

Coldplay still hasn’t found what it’s looking for. The biggest rock band of the ’00s, the British quartet aspires to be as big as U2, reports Star Tribune. But the group’s sold-out concert Friday at Xcel Energy Center was like one step forward and two steps back. The show wasn’t as consistently exciting as Coldplay’s first Twin Cities arena concert in 2003 nor as visually dazzling as the group’s 2005 effort. Friday’s 95-minute concert lacked momentum, urgency and depth. The key culprit was t

Ten years in the cold is enough. Time to warm up and rock out the stadiums. Scottish stadium rockers Simple Minds have turned out to be one of the comeback stories of the year, selling out arenas and winning new fans with its acclaimed album Black And White 050505. Maybe Coldplay is the stadium standard these days for the super-size anthem. But take nothing away from Simple Minds' frontman Jim Kerr who can still hit the mark with those emotive highs and of course, sidekick Charlie Burchill

The music world had something for everyone in 2006. London pop critic David Smyth directs last-minute shoppers towards the year's stand-out CDs... With no Coldplay or James Blunt to swoon to this year, Britain's mums had to make do with the next best thing. Snow Patrol's Eyes Open (Polydor) had Gary Lightbody's tender voice, nonthreatening guitars and plenty of hummable tunes. It quietly overpowered the Arctic Monkeys hype to become 2006's biggest seller. Close behind was James Morrison with

Aaaah, don’t they make great dads. Showing yesterday that they’re up for a spot of fun with their kids are Chris Martin and Michael Douglas. Coldplay frontman Chris, in trademark black combats, treated daughter Apple to a day at London Zoo. Dressed all pretty in pink, she was soon playing on the climbing frames. But I hope Chris doesn’t get in trouble when mum Gwyneth Paltrow sees this pic of Apple with a lollypop in her hand – I can’t imagine they sell macrobiotic ones at the zoo. Source

Bolton fans eagerly anticipating the new series of Ricky Gervais's TV comedy Extras may feel at home when it is shown later this year. In a new plot line, Andy Millman, the hapless would-be actor played by Gervais, writes his own sitcom and sets it in a Bolton factory. The town [birthplace of Coldplaying.com's webmaster no less] appears to be becoming the choice location for comedy shows since Peter Kay set Phoenix Nights in Farnworth. Sadly, the crew and cast of Extras, which is to feature

Despite their successful musical trajectory and chart-topping albums, Starsailor have always shied away from the glamour of the music industry. In an interview for the media, they talk about Coldplay and their success: Starsailor were one of the first bands to pioneer the sound that was later adopted by Coldplay and Snow Patrol. I ask how he feels about that. "In terms of Coldplay, to be fair, they came out around the same time. It would be rude of us to say you copied our sound," he laughs.
