Coldplay are to release a new single in the Netherlands in November (exact date unknown), which is much sooner than expected.   'Talk' will be the 3rd single to be taken off their latest album 'X&Y'.   Today it has been revealed that the Dutch 3-disc single release of 'Talk' will be backed with either 9 or 10 exclusive live tracks, recorded at this year's gig at the Gelredome in Arnhem, Netherlands. Coldplay's classic single 'Clocks' was released in the exact same way, which helped making it

Gwyneth Paltrow may be busy consoling Madonna about her divorce, but never fear - her hubby isn't sitting idly by, report Central Jersey.   Mr. Paltrow, aka Chris Martin, the lead singer of the British supergroup Coldplay, is in the midst of a U.S. tour. The band hits Jersey this weekend for a pair of shows at the Izod Center. But that's not all Martin and bandmates have up their sleeves. On Tuesday, Nov. 25, Coldplay will release an EP called "Prospekt's March,'' which contains new mixes of son

Does Coldplay have a sense of humor? If Chris Martin is a cutup, then maybe the flashing remote-controlled bracelets that his band distributed to concertgoers at Izod Center tonight will go off at odd hours, writes the The Star-Ledger in a review of Coldplay's two shows at the Izod Center in East Rutherford, NJ this weekend (3-4 August). Catch up on the latest tweets, pictures, videos from these shows at the Coldplay Live forum here (3rd - Friday) and here (4th - Saturday) onwards now. Thanks t

Oscar winning actress Gwyneth Paltrow allegedly collected a $3.6m kitty for a three-minute cameo in new film 'Infamous'.   The cameo was Paltrow's first role since taking maternity leave to have her daughter Apple. The actress was allegedly able to command the massive sum because she agreed to sing one song for the film.   A source revealed to celebrity gossip magazine 'Heat': "No actress has earned this sort of money for just one day's work. When you're talking about someone as beautiful and ic

Keane are at the forefront of a growing number of British groups whose songs centre on the rich, timeless tones of the piano. The inspiration for this new trend is Coldplay, whose singer Chris Martin spends the majority of any given concert not throwing rock-god shapes with a guitar, but comfortably ensconced on a stool.   Read the full article here.

And so it's farewell to the Venue.   The Edinburgh pop institution hosted early shows by Radiohead, Coldplay, Black Eyed Peas, the Strokes, the Scissor Sisters and many others, as well as providing a valuable platform for countless Scottish bands.   But apparently this rich history means nothing to the building's new owners, BL Developments, who are going to close it down next month and turn it into a posh deli for yuppies. Typical Edinburgh! Who cares about culture when the residents of expensi

It’s flattering when a world famous band chooses Edmonton to launch a world tour. Either that or it’s “paid rehearsal” — because if they screw up in Edmonton who cares, writes the Toronto Sun in a review of Coldplay at Rexall Place last night (17th April 2012). Catch up on the latest tweets, pictures, videos from this show at the Coldplay Live forum now.   The Coldplay concert Tuesday night was no place for such negativity. This was a happy, shiny offering of British pop-rock goodness of the hig

At the root, innocence. With a mix of studied stadium rock moves and innovative use of brightly coloured tech, Coldplay on Tuesday night didn’t make us feel cool or mad or even self-servingly alienated — they made us feel like wide-eyed children, writes the Edmonton Journal in another review of Coldplay at Rexall Place last night (17th April 2012). Even though we share a common language and history with our British cousins across the pond, there are some things they do that are simply perplexing. Cricket instead of hockey. Tea instead of Tim Hortons. Coldplay instead of, you know, a band with testicles and stuff.   Now comes Hex (tonight at 8 on Space, Cable 43), an import from England's Sky One satellite network that's part Buffy the Vampire Slayer, part Mean Girls and undeniably British. It's the teen dramedy as seen through a scary Gyp

After originally scheduling and then cancelling dates in Western Canada last year, and leaving Calgary, Edmonton and Winnipeg out of the loop, Coldplay is returning to North America for a 14-date tour in July and August.   And again Western Canada is not in the cards, report the Edmonton Sun. The tour, in support of the band's Viva La Vida album, begins on July 10 in Portland, Oregon with stops in California, Texas and the Midwest before hitting Eastern Canada in July. The tour concludes Aug. 9

San Francisco, CA - infoZine - The Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) today sent an open letter to EMI Music -- the record label representing artists including Paul McCartney and Coldplay -- calling on it to agree not to pursue any legal action against computer security researchers who examine the copy-protection technologies used on some EMI CDs, including Coldplay's X&Y.   In the open letter published Wednesday, EFF urges EMI Music to publicly declare that it will not take legal action a

(February 13, 2007) The world famous British rock band Coldplay is now in Chile, but the three scheduled concerts in Santiago on February 14, 15, and 16 will largely be a privilege for Chile’s rich. The tickets, which start at US$80 for general admission and go up to US$160, remain out of reach for most Chileans in a country where the average monthly salary is only US$500 a month.   Arriving in Chile on Monday directly from London, Coldplay band members were quickly rushed into seclusion at Sant

Elbow wowed a packed house at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles (July 22), despite the fact that they lost all of their gear over the Atlantic ocean. The Mancunian quintet, who embarked on a US tour supporting Coldplay tonight in East Troy, had a mishap on the way over to California from England. "It's lovely to be here, but we're a bit jetlagged because none of our gear arrived," frontman Guy Garvey told the audience. "It's somewhere over the Atlantic."   Elbow announced that they will support

Sir Elton John has called Oasis' Liam and Noel Gallagher a pair of "stupid sods" after they wasted an opportunity to break America, then contrasted their lack of success to Coldplay's US breakthrough.   The Manchester band, who split last year, attempted to take their music stateside in the mid-90s, but the bid ended acrimoniously. "They were enormous in Britain, they were enormous in America and they went over there and argued between themselves and cancelled the tour and they never broke Ameri

Chris thought it was one of the best songs he'd written but said it sounded so much like Embrace that he gave it to us and it’s turned out really, really well."   The West Yorkshire band have s

On the eve of the launch of its new music site, MySpace said today that EMI Group, which counts Coldplay among its jewels, is now part of the joint venture that already includes the other three top recording companies, reports LA Times.   EMI was the missing link for the venture, which came out of a negotiation between MySpace and the recording industry over copyright infringement on the News Corp. social network. The music service, which will be available tonight at www.myspace.com/music, will

Coldplay's new album "X&Y" has been released, and it is already being spoken of as one of the biggest albums of the year.   And it is not just the band's fans who are hoping it is a success -- strong sales of this new album will be music to EMI's ears. It took Coldplay 18 months to make its third album, and its release came after a three-month delay.   But was the album worth waiting for? Ben Jones, of Virgin Radio, said: "It's definitely worth the wait. It's case of record companies going:

Music publisher EMI faces a crunch Christmas as it struggles to deal with £2.7 billion of loans from Citigroup.   Analysts today warned that it needs to generate enough cash by March to meet its obligations with the bank. It also needs a bumper festive season to revive its struggling music business. Terra Firma, the private-equity firm run by Guy Hands which bought EMI for £2.4 billion at the height of the buyout boom in May last year, may be forced to inject funds to prevent a default on the lo
