19-year-old soul star Adele will pick up the Critics' Choice gong at Wednesday's ceremony, and will also perform Coldplay's 'God Put A Smile On Your Face' with Mark Ronson.   The ceremony, which will be hosted by Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne, airs on ITV1 at 8pm on Wednesday. "It'll be so good if Amy Winehouse comes and does 'Valerie' with him too," Adele [pictured] told the Daily Star. "I loved her Grammy performance. I was thinking how nerve-wracking that must have been for her doing it via satell

Chris Martin is devastated after the end of his parents’ 30-year marriage, report The Mirror this morning. Friends of the 33-year-old singer say he has found it "incredibly difficult emotionally" after his mum Alison decided to leave the family home.   Martin’s father Anthony, 69, a millionaire retired accountant and magistrate, has now begun a new relationship. He has put the family’s £1.25million home near Exeter, Devon, on the market. The eight-acre grounds of the Grade 2 listed Georgian hom

According to several S.Americal Coldplay fans, the company that is bringing Coldplay to Brazil is asking absolutely ridiculous prices for their gigs, and they are putting tables and chairs for the audience. More on this petition here   Este é um protesto dos fãs brasileiros da banda Coldplay. Após 3 longos anos de espera desde o último show da banda no país, após a decepção de termos sido excluídos da última turnê do grupo, o anúncio de 3 shows no Brasil, em fevereiro do ano que vem, não poderia

It nearly wasn't to be for ace drummer Will Champion - it is the job that has made him an international rock star who has played sell-out stadium shows all around the world, sold millions of records, won dozens of awards and earned a reported £10m, writes the Southern Daily Echo ahead of tonight's showing of the South Bank Show that features Coldplay.   But now it has been revealed it nearly wasn’t to be for the Hampshire student who went on to be one quarter of Coldplay. For drummer Will Champi

For those who haven't seen the behind the scenes clip of the making of the video to 'Speed Of Sound', you can view it here [thanks vamm842]   The video promo for "Speed of Sound" was shot on a Los Angeles sound stage over 22–23 April 2005. Shooting took place on large sets backed by large LED displays. The performance based video was helmed by Mark Romanyak, who was responsible for Johnny Cash's "Hurt" and Jay-Z's "99 Problems".   The video earned 4 nominations at the 2005 MTV Video Music Awards

Halton Council have given permission for a three day music event to take place at the Spike Island park in Widnes this year.   Councillor Rob Polhill said: "This event is set to be the biggest concert here in ten years and it is appropriate that it is taking place at Spike Island, where the Stone Roses played their famous concert."   The festival is believed to be taking place on 27-29 May with former Stone Rose Ian Brown (pictured), Oasis and Coldplay rumoured to headline.   Spike Island, a fo

The arguments over the value of music streaming to artists roll on, but one thing’s for certain: something definitely hit the fan for Spotify, Rdio and the rest this week. Mercury-nominated artist Jon Hopkins claimed this week that he was paid just £8 (around $13) for almost 100,000 streams on the service, and just hours before it was revealed that an independent record distributor in Britain — representing more than 200 small records labels — quit a range of streaming services, including Spotif

Last night at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheater, Coldplay delivered exactly the type of set you would want from it - and then some. That's not snark, either: For nearly two hours, the British quartet unleashed hit after hit after hit with little self-indulgence and plenty of spectacle, writes the Riverfront Times.   In fact, the entire show was geared toward its fans. A tan, fit Chris Martin made sure to spend some time singing on the wings of the stage, making the cougars ladies in those sectio

Quite a few of you have been in touch with The Oracle to ask what time the four acts will be playing at the upcoming Wembley Stadium shows. So, Coldplay.com have posted the official times for those gigs on the website, as well as the upcoming shows in Manchester, Dublin and Glasgow.   Meanwhile, a reminder that London's Trinity Hospice recently put on an exhibition entitled Larger than Life, showing portraits of well-known folks with a personal reflection written on the artwork on the theme of l

Cold lasers + Coldplay + cool dome theatre = hot date? Yes, which is surprising given that the novelty of laser shows has waned since the trend crested in the 1980s.   Vancouver's Roundhouse Productions continues to rock the H. R. MacMillan Space Centre at Vanier Park, recently adding Laser Coldplay to a repertoire anchored by long-running faves Pink Floyd: The Wall and Laser Zeppelin.   Although these AV "concerts" skirt cheesiness at every flipped switch, they still pack enough punch to move

Celebrities who take their charity work seriously are to be recognised at an awards ceremony on Monday.   Bob Geldof, Coldplay's Chris Martin (pictured) and comic Lenny Henry are among those who have been shortlisted by readers of Third Sector charity magazine. "Our readers have voted for celebrities who take their charity work seriously, not as a career-enhancing bolt-on," said editor Stephen Cook.   Geldof's long association with Band Aid and Live Aid has won him a nomination. Celebrities including U2 singer Bono, Coldplay's Chris Martin, actor Jude Law and Live Aid founder Bob Geldof joined aid charities in a public thank you to the Government for promising to boost Britain's aid for poorer countries. In his spending review last month, Chancellor Gordon Brown announced that official development assistance would increase to A£6.5 billion - 0.47% of national income - by 2007, and reaffirmed the Government's aim of meeting the United Nations target of 0.7% by 2013.   I

Gwyneth Paltrow's husband Chris martin has reportedly asked the 'Shakespeare in Love' beauty to stay away from her supermodel friend Kate Moss.   The 'Coldplay' frontman said to Gwyneth that she should end her friendship with Moss after the ramp diva openly admitted dating ex-Libertines frontman Pete Doherty, who was sacked from his band because of his dependency on drugs.   "Chris respects Pete as an artist but that's as far as it goes. He would never be drawn into the kind of world that Pete -

According to Stereoboard today, next week will see Coldplay announcing a UK winter tour. They don't say whether the European leg of this tour will also be announced at the same time, but if it is we expect it will be along the lines of the recently rumoured schedule which was posted several weeks ago. Here's what Stereoboard had to say:   Only days after the release of new single 'Paradise', more good news is expected for Coldplay fans next week. That's all we can say at the moment, however, if

Steve Lamacq [pictured] has caught up with recent Coldplay events from the weekend and wrote about them in his online blog. Here goes:   So what we suspected - but weren't at liberty to confirm - turns out to be true. There will be another Coldplay album next year, currently set for release in December '09. Chris Martin broke the news during a convivial chat with REM's Michael Stipe and yours truly on BBC 6 Music on Saturday afternoon. What's more surprising is that there will be a new EP, Prosp

'I told him, 'I'll come sing with you in Atlanta if you ... do this song with me,' ' R.E.M. frontman says.   Some might call Michael Stipe remiss for releasing his Hurricane Katrina charity single "In the Sun" several months after the tragedy. But he'd say those critics are missing the point.   "The news cycle may have moved on," Stipe said recently, "but this is going to be with us for years and years. A lot of people have forgotten about those affected or assumed or believed that they're now O

More excellent reviews of Coldplay's concert at the Olympiastadion in Stockholm, Sweden, have been posted at the Coldplay Live forum, that didn't quite make the main review article in time yesterday morning. It was the first time for me since I didn't get tickets last time they were here (No money was one of the reasons :/). This time I go
