The Red Hot Chili Peppers hit Californication has been voted the best album of the last 10 years. Oasis smash (What's the Story) Morning Glory (1995) came second in the poll. Californication was released five years ago and has gone on to sell more than 15 million copies for the American rock band, who first emerged in 1983. Eminem's The Marshall Mathers LP (2000) takes third place, in front of the album Irish legends U2 released in the same year, All that You Can't Leave Behind. Coldp

This is despite that Coldplay have already hinted that it would only contain nine tracks. Additionally, they're calling it a Limited Gatefold Wallet Edition. WITH two ground-breaking and multi-million selling albums, Gorillaz' creative controllers Damon Albarn and Jamie Hewlett have unequivocally established they are cultural messiahs. They are also very naughty boys. One would expect they would have exhausted their own supply of irreverence and braggadocio, having bestowed huge quantities of both on the Gorillaz virtual bandmates, Murdoc, 2D, Noodle and Russel. In the middle of the only two days of publicity they claim they are doing for their s

What do you get when you combine Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman, Magne Furuholmen from a-ha, Jonas Bjerre from Mew and producer Martin Terefe? Why, a new supergroup with a Swedish name, of course. Apparatjik, which is a Swedish term for people who create bottlenecks in otherwise efficient organizations (!), first formed to provide music for a BBC show called Amazon Tribe: Songs for Survival. Apparatjik played their first concert at the WMF Club in Berlin recently, as part of the music and art f

Gwyneth Paltrow's young daughter Apple is huge fan of her mother's celebrity pal Madonna. The 20-month-old tot, whose father is Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, prefers the Material Girl's number one hit Hung Up to her dad's rock sounds. Paltrow says: "Apple loves to dance. She absolutely loves Hung Up by 'Dadonna' - that's how she pronounces Madonna. We have it on repeat in our house. She demands to hear it over and over and over." Source: http://breakingnews.iol.ie

Actress Gwyneth Paltrow and her singer husband Chris Martin's baby daughter Apple prefers Irish rockers U2's songs to her 'Coldplay' father's music. Martin, however, is very happy with Apple's taste in music, as he was the one who had introduced her to Bono's singing before Apple was born in May 2004. "U2's The Unforgettable Fire is one of the first songs I played to my unborn baby," ratethemusic quoted Martin as saying. Martin further said that the 'Shakespeare In Love' star and he are bi

Just days after the European launch of Apple Computers’ online music store, a chorus of customers are voicing their complaints. There are also doubts over Apple’s claims of having more than 700,000 tracks on iTunes, with just four records in the current Top 10 available for purchase. Furthermore, big name artists such as Coldplay, Oasis and David Gray are conspicuous by their absence - despite being available on the US store. The lack of songs from artists on independent record labels - which a

Gwyneth Paltrow prefers playing Mozart to baby Apple than husband Chris Martin's Coldplay tracks. The Sun says plays classical tunes to help the five-week old sleep. Coldplay songs are allowed - but only occasionally, and with the volume turned down. A friend says: "Gwyneth wants Apple to appreciate classical music. Mozart is on most of the time - with a teeny bit of Coldplay, but only softly." The star has reportedly even taken to putting a DVD of her film Shakespeare in Love on when she go

Last week, Apple began taking pre-orders for Coldplay's "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends," and in so doing, offered buyers immediate access to the title track. As noted here, the single downloaded with DRM at 128 kilobits per second. The post generated a call from an Apple spokesperson, who reported that the Coldplay track was to have downloaded at higher bit rate, the DRM-free and better-quality 256 kilobits per second that graces all music from EMI labels. But a quick iTunes check

Apple Corps initiated the lawsuit against Apple Computer in London's High Court because it said the computer maker had violated a 1991 agreement in which both companies agreed to stay out of each others' business territory. The record label claims that Apple Computer broke the ag

Shame on you if you were April Fooled into believing Coldplay had split, following the juicy story that Chris Martin had quit the band to grow watermelons. Ode To Deodorant certainly wasn't Coldplay's biggest hit to date. EMI don't answer phones at weekend, they only respond to emails. And X&Y was a very very big album of 2005. More on the April Fools prank here April Fools Report: Chris Martin has had enough The world of music was shocked earlier on today when popular musician Chris

The public may have fallen for James Blunt, the ex-army captain with a penchant for touching love songs, but it was Arcade Fire from Montreal who set the critics alight this year. While the critics entirely dismissed popular acts including James Blunt, Robbie Williams, Westlife and Katie Melua, other acts beloved by real record-buyers do feature in the top 50. Coldplay, whose album X&Y was one of the best-sellers of the year, makes number 30 in the critics' poll while Kaiser Chiefs are at
