Coldplay's 'The Scientist' featured highly in UK's Channel 4 Greatest 100 Pop Videos Ever, coming a fantastic 11th place.   The video, in which Chris Martin is shown moving backwards but singing the song forwards, acts out an apparent happy calm and ends on a carefree drive, but in-between features a horrific car crash.   For the full countdown of videos, visit Channel 4's page here

Chris Martin says Coldplay's duet with Kylie Minogue was axed from their new album because the Australian songbird made them 'too sexy' – something his band aren't ready to be.   Comeback Chris also says the pop princess took control of writing the collaboration, while the band were challenged with the task of designing the singer's outfits. Asked why the band didn't include her duet on new album 'Viva La Vida', Martin tells the new Q Radio station, 'Well it's just too sexy, at this point we ca

You may remember coldplaying.com reported that both Westlife and Ronan Keating were upset at being omitted from the Band Aid 20 recording session. Having been denied the chance to take part in recording Do They Know It's Christmas? by Bob Geldof, Westlife have now been invited to perform it live.   Along with fellow Irishman Ronan Keating, the group were none too pleased when they were not given the chance to participate in the Band Aid single to raise money for refugees in Sudan's Darfur region

Despite its all-star composition of Coldplay bassist Guy Berryman, Mew frontman Jonas Bjerre, and a-ha guitarist/keyboardist Magne Furuholmen, the super group Apparatjik has remained relatively low-key since forming in 2008. It took them two years to drop a single and even longer to make a live debut. Now, with little to no fanfare, the band has dropped details for the worldwide release of its full-length debut, reports Consequence of Sound today.   Produced by Martin Terefe, the 11-track We Are

‘Sing’ was the first song “plagiarised” for Viva La Vida admits Coldplay frontman. Plus: "Beyonce's better than The Strokes, Muse, Arcade Fire and us!".   Coldplay’s Chris Martin has admitted that ‘Sing’, a song that featured on Blur’s debut album ‘Leisure’, was the first song to provide inspiration during the making of new album ‘Viva La Vida Or Death And All His Friends’. “Sing was the first song we plagiarised for the new album”, said Chris.   The revelation came as Coldplay took over DJ duti

The Beatles have topped the latest poll to find the nation's favourite Number One album.   Their most famous record, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, was yesterday revealed as the public's favourite record to have topped the album charts. By the wonders of all-the-rage social networking site Facebook, Worldview's Oliver has recently been socialising with some longlost pals from his schooldays. Among the topics of catch-up conversation were the exploits of fellow ex-school and bandmate Guy Berryman. Apparently he's now knocking about in some stadium rock outfit called Coldplay.   But it seems Guy hasn't forgotten where it all began, playing in teen band Time Out with Oliver and some other pals. The group gets a mention in his Wiki

Kele Okereke has said that Coldplay should be ‘applauded’ for their re-working of Kraftwerk’s ‘Computer Love’, XFM reports.   Coldplay famously lifted the tune from one of the German techno giants’ most famous song and used it for their arena-filling hit, ‘Talk’. The song, which featured on Coldplay’s ‘X&Y’ album, drew high praise from Bloc Party’s singer.   Introducing Kraftwerk’s original, he said: “The next song is ‘Computer Love’ by Kraftwerk. You may recognise the melody because it was

Check out the 2008 section of Coldplay.com for a new star.   Wednesday 30th January (2008) Devon, UK   Back home for a few days. A brief rest before the final push.   Another four or five weeks and we should be home and dry: another ten mixes + re-recording one of the songs from scratch. In times gone by I would have set aside a month to re-record a track. However, the week before Christmas, we recorded two tracks in four days - Lovers In Japan and Strawberry Swing. On the fifth day (Friday), Ch
