That Chris Martin. Funny guy or what? The Coldplay frontman had 'em in stitches in the US recently when he bashed out an impromptu tribute on the piano - to Maria Carey's knockers.   Chris was asked by an American reporter if he felt Maria was "on his tail" for the distinction of having 2005's best-selling album. "She's not, but one of her boobs is," he joked before going on to croon an instant tribute...   "Mariah Carey's boobs are so nice, and she don't mess around. If she had been aboard the

Good thanks, just on my way to watch the band at Top Of The Pops.   Well, congratulations on th

Coldplay entered the UK singles charts with their new festive track Christmas Lights, which landed at 18th place, following its release on iTunes last Wednesday. This chart position is based on digital sales only as there was no physical release available to buy. It is important to note that they broke the top 20 with only three full days of sales - a good result.   Meanwhile in the iTunes charts, Christmas Lights reached no.1 in Portugal, Spain, Finland and Greece so far, recording top ten posi

Time to take another sneaky peak at some 2005 UK Christmas Number One contenders. Take a look, and place a bet. Then in 2010, when the 2005 Christmas Number One makes you nauseous, you can at least console yourself by remembering that you won a few quid on it.   Coldplay - Coldplay are releasing Talk on December 19th. There are plus points to this announcement - it’s released one week before Christmas so it’ll reach it’s peak position (potentially Christmas Number One) on Christmas day; and also

Coldplay sews for fun, and 'are worse than they were yesterday', reports CinemaBlend, in an article posted earlier today.   If it’s possible, Coldplay got even dreamier, more artsy and more pseudo-bohemian than ever, when AOL News reported Wednesday that the band enjoys spending their free time sewing and modifying their clothes. My man-crush on them is now complete.   “Making clothes together in our studio makes us feel complete,” Chris Martin said, philosophically stroking his stubbled chin a

Coldplay's record label to be sold on after creditor takes control   EMI has been taken over by US bank Citigroup. The bank had been the major record label's creditor as it racked up debts of £3.4 billion. Now, after taking ownership of the company, the bank has reduced the debt to £1.2 billion, reports BBC News. Coldplay, Lily Allen, Pete Doherty, Katy Perry, Robbie Williams and Gorillaz are among the artists signed to EMI.   Citigroup plans to sell on the label, which will continue under its c

A band who have been touring stadiums across the country supporting rock giants Coldplay will bring their music to the more intimate surroundings of Coventry's Colosseum nightclub next month.   Morning Runner, signed to Parlophone, will play at the Primrose Hill Street venue on Monday, February 6. The Reading-based band have received plaudits from the NME and the Guardian, as well as Radio One DJs like Steve Lamacq and Jo Whiley. And they have also recently supported bands like Snow Patrol, Athl

A blend of rock, jazz and classical rock music — spiced with some Parikrama left scores of Bangloreans in a dense musical haze as it resonated every nook and corner of Palace Grounds.   This unusual initiative by Radio City 91 FM to promote three new local rock bands is laudable indeed. Spanning eight weeks, the weekend show ‘Radio City Live’ — featured eight talented but little known bands and recorded over fifty original compositions across multiple genres of alternative rock, country music,

It's almost 10 years since the release of Urban Hymns, The Verve's gargantuan, 7 million-selling masterpiece. It's an album whose key songs still attract superlatives. Introducing Richard Ashcroft onstage at Live 8 in July 2005, Coldplay's Chris Martin desribed Bittersweet Symphony as "probably the best song ever written."   Coldplay's performance of the track - with Ashcroft on vocals - was a high point of the London Live 8 show, and marked Ashcroft's return to action after two years of silence

Last time we saw Coldplay at Glastonbury in 2000, they were unknown and unsigned, at the bottom of the bill in the New Bands Tent. A mere two years later, they have become Michael Eavis’ favourite band and were hotly tipped to leave Glastonbury 2002 with the sort of legacy that adorn the houses of Pulp, REM, Travis and The Chemical Brothers for historic performances on the Pyramid Stage. That’s a lot of pressure, but as the power chords of new opener ‘Politique’ blasted out, it looked like they

‘Thank you everyone for waiting for us’ are Chris Martin’s first words to the already fired-up Nokia Isle of Wight Festival revellers. Clearly, most people are actually here to see this English world-wide sensation anyway. But Chris and the other members in Coldplay don’t care. They know where they’re from and they also know who got them where they are right now; at the pinnacle of musical superstardom.   There’s no big fuss. Coldplay take to the stage, the audience is ready – flags bearing the

Piano-led 'Daylight' is track 6 from Coldplay's sophomore album 'A Rush Of Blood To The Head'. This album had greater use of piano than Coldplay's debut album or most other rock bands popular at the time. The use of piano on A Rush of Blood has been subsequently credited with influencing the sound of bands such as Keane and Athlete, although this was in dispute at the time.   Daylight has a wobbly Eastern guitar intro - think Love-era Cult, Porcupine-era Echo & The Bunnymen. Coldplay, with 'X&Y' topping the charts in at least 28 countries including Japan, launched their third album to the world in 2005.   During the album's promotion, Coldplay performed four songs for a Japanese acoustic session - "Swallowed In The Sea", "Til Kingdom Come", "A Message", and "Warning Sign".   A year after the session was filmed Coldplay made it once again to Japan, this time in concert, performing four nights in July 2006 in Osaka, Nagoya and Tokyo (twice).   Watch the acoustic

This week's classic Coldplay clip features the Moses Promo Video which comprises a compilation of shots and scenes from the Coldplay Live 2003 DVD, together with the performance of Moses, a track so far only ever played live. VH1 labelled it "Moses - Version 3 by Coldplay".   Amidst the nicely edited concert montages on this cut (from the 2003 DVD), we also get glimpses of the lads lounging backstage, a little jokey guy-on-guy action and a peek at Martin's jump shot. The actual performance of 'M

This week's classic Coldplay clip is Speed of Sound (Around the World), featuring performances from Toronto 2006, Toronto 2005, Glastonbury 2005, MTV Live Leak, MTV Live Day and Amsterdam 2005.   "Speed of Sound" was infamously beaten to the number one spot on the UK Singles Chart by the novelty song "Axel F" by the Crazy Frog. During their performance of "Speed of Sound" at the 2005 Glastonbury Festival, Chris asked "Crazy Frog, where are you now?". However, it became Coldplay's first UK Downlo

The music video for "Talk" was helmed by director/photographer Anton Corbijn. Corbijn had previously directed the video for "All These Things That I've Done" by The Killers.   Filming took place on November 5 and November 6 at Ealing Studios, London, just before the band began an European leg on the Twisted Logic Tour. The black-and-white clip invokes a B-movie science fiction theme, with imagery ranging from a flying saucer to 3D glasses.   It seems the entire video can in fact be viewed in t

While most U.K. groups go down as easily in America as a plateful of haggis or a mug of room-temperature beer nowadays, there's one band that continues to lead a British invasion all on its own. In fact, with their epic third album X&Y (13 tracks of universally appealing, U2-worthy rock--or "soft rock," as singer Chris Martin puts it), not to mention sold-out stadium tours and a regular spot in the tabloids thanks to Martin's high-profile marriage to A-list actress Gwyneth Paltrow, Coldplay

The music video for "Yellow" was filmed at Studland Bay, near Swanage, England. The area is known for its beautiful beaches and is a National Trust location. The video is very minimalistic and simple, featuring only lead singer Chris Martin singing the song as he walks along the beach. He is wearing a raincoat with his hair wet, suggesting that it had just rained. The video is one continuous shot with no cuts. Also, the entire sequence is in slow motion.   Originally it had been intended for the

Brandy (Norwood, from the old show Moesha) has written a song titled "Coldplay" and it even features some of their lyrics from "Sparks". This music genre is completely different from that of Coldplay, but you might like to hear it. It can be found here under "Aphrodisiac snippets".   Thanks to Sean from Pennsylvania.

Picture of Coldplay as guests on The Simpsons (via Coldplayzone.it)   Sam Simon, one of the co-creators of The Simpsons, has died at the age of 59.   Sam was giving away most of his fortune to charity. His foundation, the Sam Simon Foundation, confirmed the news on Facebook on Monday. “It is with much sadness that we must let you know that Sam Simon has passed over,” the announcement read.   Simon, 59, was diagnosed with terminal colon cancer in 2012, and told he had only three to six months

Coldplay were among the artists being reported as possibly playing the 2005 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in Indio. But the festival promoter says the media are falling victim to a giant hoax.   "That’s all wrong online," said Paul Tollett, managing partner of the Los Angeles-based Goldenvoice company. "Some kid did that to be funny."   Filter magazine, which has been a major presence at past Coachella festivals, even passing out free compilation CDs to festivalgoers, reported on its
