  1. I'd like to quote an article written shortly after Ghost Stories' release. "Fact: Everyone loves Coldplay. Another fact: Everyone hates Coldplay. It’s not Coldplay itself that is so confounding—it’s everyone. [Coldplay] is loved, despised, ubiquitous, and tolerated—much like the status quo it caters to. The band’s sound reflects its normalcy. Coldplay’s music is not about esoteric struggles or marginalized concerns; it always points toward universality. It can be quite moving—and is always highly consumable." In other words, many of us get caught up with the sense that popular music doesn't quite reiterate one's individual thoughts and struggles. Coldplay reflects the concerns of a larger population so that those who feel society has ostracized them become resentful of a group that creates music that unifies, rather that empathizes.
  2. I think the lyrics have something to say about the supposed dualistic nature of time, using the "time is a loaded gun" analogy, where time can "leak" akin to guns starting wars and violence, but nonetheless we need time as it "leads us on" into the next chapter of our lives. ....Am I being too in depth here? :laugh3:
  3. Hey Guys. Remember that post I made a while back? http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/threads/104739-Life-In-Technicolor-ii-lyrics?highlight=life+in+technicolor+ii Turns out I was right! According to the official Coldplay website: http://coldplay.com/song/life-in-technicolor-ii/ Not that it really matters or anything, just wanted to let you guys know as currently all or most of the current websites have the lyrics wrong. (I think the original confusion came with the fact that the coldplay timeline lacked lyrics for that song, as it is a b-side) TLDR: "Time only can lead you on" is actually "Time'll leak and lead you on"
  4. It looks like Coldplay is also one of the few artists with more than 2 songs on the list (Fix You, Yellow, Clocks) Number of songs of each artist (with more than 1 song) in the top 100 list: Eminem - 6 Michael Jackson - 4 Red Hot Chili Peppers - 4 Green Day - 4 Coldplay - 3 Guns N' Roses - 3 Queen - 3 Metallica - 3 Blink-182 - 3 OutKast - 2 The Killers - 2 Linkin Park - 2 Nirvana - 2 3 Doors Down - 2 The Rolling Stones - 2 Dr. Dre - 2 U2 - 2 The total playcount of artists with 3 or 4 songs on the list: 4 songs: Red Hot Chili Peppers - 121,986,376 Michael Jackson - 111,932,657 Green Day - 96,176,209 3 songs: Coldplay - 88,362,441 Metallica - 77,550,617 Queen - 75,796,033 Guns N' Roses - 71,163,582 Blink-182 - 70,352,556
  5. According to Spotify, Fix You has more plays than both Clocks and The Scientist, and almost double that of Clocks.
  6. That's what I thought at first, but what he sings is so similar to the lyrics in the recording I thought that might be what they meant. Use this: [video=youtube;hTTAyt0b6XA] if the link doesn't work. Skip to 1:33.
  7. Recently I've been listening to Life in Technicolor ii, and have been fixated on this verse: Time came a-creepin' Oh and time's a loaded gun Every road is a ray of light It goes o-o-on Time only can lead you on Still it's such a beautiful night These are the correct lyrics according to every website or source I have come across (as far as I've checked, the official Coldplay timeline is missing the lyrics for this song) I apologize if these are the official lyrics stated by Coldplay and I'm just making a fool of myself, but I suspect "Time only can lead you on" should actually be "Time will leak and lead you on" Here's why: In this video of an acoustic rendition of the song , Chris clearly sings "Time will leak but lead you on" In the official recording, the word "but" is clearly never spoken, which leads me to believe the lyrics should be "Time will leak and lead you on" It is very possible that Chris specifically altered the lyrics in the performance, but I am curious in hearing your guys' opinions on this.
