  1. sure they have control. they don't waste their time in a boardroom throwing the figures at each other, but they decide to play the shows every night. If they would refuse to play on these grounds, then the suits would have to be lower the price. They wouldn't be happy about it and the might try to sue the band, but either way it's a choice Coldplay decides on all the time. It's all a matter of perspective; from this perspective they have complete control. (Reference: Pearl Jam)
  2. I never think of coldplay as being that abstract. especially next to radiohead. this is a good thing i think. whereas radiohead channels the subconscious, coldplay communicates on a conscious level (meaning chris writes to be understood, and thom yorke is more of a wizard with words). the thing is that you have to have experienced the very specific things that chris is singing about, otherwise it all sounds like rubbish i'm sure. but if you can relate, it's almost as straightforward as it gets. tides that i tried to swim against makes perfect sense to me. so do birds came flying from the underground, it was all yellow... "a hidden diamond you cannot find" "a secret star that cannot shine over to you" "i shall be free" "it's love.
  3. he doesn't have to play it and he doesn't have to prove that he has it. whatever
  4. I'm comfortable with how much i'm thinking into this, thanks. If they (the dj's) Can get their management to take responsibility then i'm sure they'd do it immediately (if they actually do have the album). But if their bosses say they won't back it, then these poor ass college kids have to decide if they want the publicity and bill for breaking the law, you know?? I think the guy has the album though
  5. that's funny jackie, :) i agree, but i just get the sense it's for real. it's the way they were talking about it
  6. nevermind cafc4eva, forget it
  7. it is not their job, but i bet you it's their top priority on the inside. The shame is in the industry where humanity comes after one's own benefit. if coldplay had wanted to release their album immediately to help people, the label wouldn't do it. no way, in Hell
  8. they have it though, i can tell they're not lying
  9. not tonight
  10. it's not a hoax. they'll do it but maybe not before it leaks elsewhere. also, i was just sharing some thoughts. why do you have to be so cold to me
  11. did they just play talk?? i just caught the end of it... was it the same version we have (the old one)???
  12. it's funny to me, cause in the long run all "leaks" do is continue exposure to a larger audience. It's true that some people will just download the album and not buy it, but the real topic that needs to be addressed is this fucking uptight world we live in... So these people download the album; theyre more likely to go to a show then where the real money is spent. And coldplay is doin just fine for them selves i'm sure... Also, music is a really expensive habit to begin with and i'm proud of people who are passionate about music and meaning. I don't at all blame those people who just download. It's a tough world and hard to just get up out of bed sometimes. I wonder how many people have committed suicide since the album was completed; people who's lives could have been saved by taking in x&y (if it had been released immediately). I'd say at least 20 or 30. Damn shame
  13. yeah, the tensions are there. I bet it will leak before tuesday
  14. yeah, that's cool. I graduated from UNT last year and I'm still living here trying to get things together. You're in NYC, huh? That's funny, cause I'm originally from there:) I've enjoyed listening to this station. Was that loretta lynne they just played? The cover of "I'll stop the world..." I love interpol. they're amazing live
  15. i don't think this is a ploy. i think they're serious about doing it. this is more exciting than nothing either way :) I'll think once the responsibility is off their shoulders they'll do it. They may not be able to get it approved before next time
