Hurts Like Paradise

I have written poetry for a long time and I just recently got my own poetry blog. I hope this poem inspires you. Maybe my luck is running out I see a storm brewin’ outside I am always running away Please sound the alarm I need to be calm God is always good Oh, one day, I’ll stand in His presence A storm is brewin’ outside Will I be ready that spectacular day? Your faith is stronger than mine Mine is a murky clay Yours is the sweetest of wine I clump together The grapes in yours taste better The storm reminds me I don’t have all the pieces as one I am an eternal being I always will be Sometimes I want to cave in Because of the way I have behaved I love being an eternal being But there is a storm brewin’ outside Should I take cover? Or completely surrender? The tornado may spin Tornado Valley is in my point of view The hurricane may coming crashing in This hurricane’s time is due Can I stand in His presence? I try living a good life But what really matters is Who you know Will this storm of love sweep me away? We all live busy lives Trying to maintain our jobs and houses And stay connected to friends, family, and spouses I peer into this night sky in this lit plaza I can’t even see the stars with all this light pollution Is progress really the solution? It is a man-made idealism But we hold it true as realism I am riding a train going somewhere Reading Scripture It says, “Wait on the Lord” I choose movement over patience It’s like leaving my suitcase at home while on board We’ve got a destination but no tools to help us How do I rely on an invisible being of light? How do I give my problems to one who has it all? I know He understands but I am embarrassed each time I fall How do I give my relationships to Him? When God-fearing men bring light to a world turning dim They’re a physical embodiment of the who created everything But still, I can’t get on my knees or sing Lord, take my mess And help me feel blessed Blessed beyond measure In You, I want to surrender I am riding that train again But this time I don’t block out the Holy Spirit from within I take Him into this broken planet And say, “Lord, here’s my soul, “You can have it!” Please check out my poetry Facebook page: https://m.facebook.com/desiringcadence/?ref=bookmarks

The year is 2035 Yeah, it’s an interesting time to be alive I am on the highway The Uber self-driving car got in my lane I almost got badly hurt I am taking this to court Filing lawsuit The law said it was my fault Even though, the car went into my lane But what they won’t tell you is, It was 5% system failure fluke When you are born They implant a chip on you They say it helps to keep birth records and eventually keep revenue There are robots, machines and drones everywhere They used to create a great big scare Now they are the norm They help us weather life’s storm They even become friends with the dogs and other animals 2035 is a strange matrix A strange climate we have created But it’s nothing compared to this… Having a hologram of yourself If you can’t get a hold of me, don’t worry There are plenty of me to go around They look just like me But they have no soul They talk just like me And feel emotions with tears But if you look close enough They have a chip in their ear What do we tell our children? The world used to not always be this way? What a spectacular view from Your eyes, Lord It’s a magnificent day Children are eating ice cream like it’s a heavenly treat Lovers are jumping off a driving board Into a pool of trust and affinity When used correctly Free will can be so sweet The fireflies are whirling around They are penetrating the sky like a light show They are buzzing like they are exactly where they want to be Children and lovers are ready for the showdown If we are made for this; it must be this unmistakable That this love is elastic and unshakable Children and lovers lift up your hands and make your plea Children; the innocent bloodline of God Lovers; the marriage of man to God Take your stand in this tarnished life Your unspoken beauty and dignity give the Lord laud Oh, Your view Father, must be marvelous! For children who show such contentment and fearlessness And lovers who passionately and effortless rely on their husband or wife God, You see the pain in the Earth But You still ask for us to come to You Because You created us for this moment in time, for always Because it’s beauty when lovers kiss or mothers give birth It’s the continuous cycle of life, you know?
