ummm...street spirit just happens to be one of radioheads best-ever songs. i wouldnt compare it to one of coldplays good "three-chord solo" songs...not same level sorry though i agree some radiohead fans are probably jealous of coldplays success, but that only makes sense as in a lot of peoples minds radiohead is consistently producing excellent music, yet have only been achieving average sales...(at least since ok computer)

ummm...no theyre not. as long as coldplay dont release another record on a musical scale of say the bends or ok computer or kid a, theyre not a better band. and to be honest, parachutes/arobtth/x&y are not better than any of those three albums. and coldplay sucks live in comparison. sorry to be brutally honest.

i hate to be going against everyone here but i really think, as much as i like x&y, that the production is crap. if they wanted to sound like u2, they shouldve just hired eno. also, the guitars on "what if" are too low when they kick in, but thats just my opinion. otherwise, i think the album is pretty good. i also think that part of the reason x&y is receiving mixed reactions (myself included) is that it loses coldplays intimacy (i.e parachutes) AND its catchiness at the same time (i.e arobtth), instead going for a larger, stadium sound, without breaking new ground. but i like the songs. just not as successful as i think the record COULD have been. feel free to counter.

im not sure if x+y is going to be as strong as ok computer, but the progressions are definitely similar.

me too! im very excited. my local hmv has a mega poster of x+y up on the front door. also, i thought id mention thereès advertisements for x+y up in several different magazines, each containing different codes than the previous "x+y" and "speed of sound". ill try scanning 'em as soon as i can...

hi! not sure if this has already been reported, but i was looking through the blender issue with coldplay on it, and in the review section it got 5 stars! the reviewer said x+y is coldplays masterpiece. anyway, just thought id mention this.
