The thread that had a fight but is now about cows
Great so you all get to go to sleep, and I get to spend hours with the whole thing roaming round my head keeping me awake. The joys of being neutral and an admin :P I don't like sitting on the fence, but it seems to be the place I always end up. And I hate logging into the forum wondering what the hell I'm gonna find next. So with that in mind, I'm now off to kill some orcs

At the end of the day, they do have a position as mods, given to them by Ian. Whether you agree they should be mods or not, I do still think they should be treated with the degree of respect being a mod involves. Whether or not you think they're doing the job properly isn't open for public debate. If you have issues about any of the mods, then there are admins to handle that. Think of it this way. If you were at work and you disagreed with the way a supervisor handled their responsibility, you would not expect to be able to deal with that yourself. Their manager is responsible for handling the situation. You would not expect to know what conversations happened between the manager & the supervisor. From what I have read, its a mutual thing. Yes, they should behave as we expect a mod to behave, but they are also human and occasionally will respond to provocation. If there are enough veiled comments posted around the forums, then it begins to get very wearing and at some point the cracks will appear. If they shouldn't be responding to the provocation then thats for the admins to handle. As I've said before, I don't think any party can claim to be entirely innocent in this. The only reason I am discussing this in the open is because I think the whole argument thread has been detrimental to the Coldplaying community. We need everyone to deal with the mods with respect. If a few people are seen to disrespect the mods, the feeling can spread. On the other side of that coin, if any mods are seen to be unfair then the whole lot can be tarred with the same brush. And I personally feel (not as an admin), that as Ian has chosen & supports those mods, if you disrespect them, you are disrespecting him. And as his wife, I get very annoyed when that happens. If you want to discuss this any more, please PM me. I'd rather the whole argument be forgotten from here, and don't think further public discussion will help with that aim. Which group is this? I've not heard of it. Please PM me with the info. I'm not sure that I agree with that statement. From what I've read, I don't think they were the catalyst in this argument. There have been a few ongoing separate frictions round the board, which all seem to have melded together and created the big bang.

Bullying is a very emotive subject, and what one person considers to be bullying another may not. Its very difficult on the internet because you say something which reads one way to you, but the other person reading it understands it a completely different way. Yes, everyone is entitled to their opinion, but I think with that comes a responsibility to think about how you express that opinion. Taking my admin hat off, and putting my Jen hat on for the moment. I don't find it entertaining, particularly when the post contains an insult and nothing else. If there is a constructive point in the post, it softens the insult. Purely for illustrative purposes. If I think you're a knobhead, am I really entitled to tell you that or would it be better to tell you the reasons why I disagree with your opinion. Its easy to call someone a knobhead, its much harder to debate the actual issue wish leads me to believe that. I don't always agree with your comments, but thats a pretty accurate summary.

To all Coldplayers Involved in The “Big Fight”
My heart started sinking as I read through this thread. Then I cheered up, as I realised most of the issues I wanted to address had already been raised/semi-answered so I can construct my response using multi-quote :D one of the most sensible comments I've seen in the last few days :D no-one is allowed to have multiple accounts except in specific circumstances, the Awards Manager, Big Brother, and on pre-arranged Alias days. exactly most definitely Jen is on the case. if you can't take it, don't deal it. Are you very, very sure about that? I'm not curious because I have the power to see lots of things :D I am very happy that the issue of multiple accounts has been raised in public, because it means that I can say this, and be satisfied that everyone knows: No-one is allowed multiple accounts. If you're found to have multiple accounts, it will be dealt with by Admin.

I know that Lore and Ren are aware of that, and I'm sure they didn't need you to point it out. Whatever you may think of them as people, please give them the respect they deserve as mods.

very literally. you can just about make out the tram stop in the top right corner of this picture you'll be on the wrong side of the tracks, so you just need to go through the underpass and up the other side. once on the street, you're outside the entrances to the ground..

Coldplay guitarist Jonny Buckland pays $3.4M for a condominium in Manhattan
I'd be interested to know what the US law says about the usage of publically available information. Whilst researching my family tree, I have access to the birth, marriage & death indexes for everyone in the UK upto 2006. I can use it for my personal research only. It is publically available information, but there are restrictions on what you are legally allowed to do with that information. The Material and Service are protected by copyright and other intellectual property rights. The Indexes of Births, Marriages and Deaths ("the Indexes") and census images are protected by Crown copyright and database rights. At the very least to use that information, I'd be breaking copyright but I would also be on dodgy legal ground as well. The rest of the conditions (which I won't bore you with) run through using the info for your own or a clients family tree only, not selling the info, or publishing it online.

I was just thinking in terms of my first Coldplay gig. It was standing only, and we got front row. I was hanging over the barrier in front of Guy, and I didn't have a clue who he was (nor any of the rest of them either). They started out with Politik and I wondered what on earth Ian had taken me too, thought I was in for an awful night. But I loved it, and somewhere along the way I've gone from going to the shows as company for Ian to being mega-excited about going in my own right. The next 12 days feel as though they're going to go so slowly, the last 4 months since we bought the tickets for the areadefinitely have.

I know. They'll have to work on their willpower. :) Its hard but it is possible. I would love to be able to use the ignore feature some days, but it would defeat the object of my job description. :laugh3:

this power-that-be thinks you're all as bad as each other. not one of you will stop, and you all keep posting to say why the others are at fault, or to post another veiled remark. I've read both of these argument threads in the cold light of day, after the event as an uninvolved bystander, and they don't portray any of the participants in a flattering way. you all need to take a step back and act more maturely. the he-said/she-said thing doesn't fit with anyone's other postings. which is strange seeing as though there is a tool built into the forum for doing exactly that. if people would use it, and not keep turning it off for a peek at what's being said, there would be no problem. I don't expect everyone to get along, and I don't expect that everyone will kiss and make-up after this argument. What I would expect is a gentleman's agreement to put this behind us, and agree to co-exist for the sake of the whole community. Its currently very divisive, and there is no need for it to be that way.

Pete's Oxfam Blog - the Winter UK tour leg
Sweeping up the butterflies never get to see the end of the show from there. I’m usually upstairs, but just now, I watched as the band bowed, left the stage, bolted for the door, and the Oxfam sphere lit up, illuminating the clearing seats, so that the masses can find their way home, and find their way to take action with Oxfam.. It’s already emptied out in there, the contents of the arena, heading out into the misty Yorkshire night. The stage is already cleared, and being torn apart. Rick marches down the catwalk, blowing away the butterfly confetti, with a leaf-clearer fit for any enthusiastic gardener. Every trace of tonight’s show will soon be gone. Band, crew, trucks, cases, stage, amps, lights, Oxfam tables, butterflies, empty beer mugs and tomato ketchup pouches. It was just a small team of Oxfamers tonight. 9 of them from the Leeds Outreach group. Between them, they got an awesome 623 pledges for Health and Education For All. That’s awesome stuff. Just think what we can do with the 60 volunteers in Birmingham over 3 nights of Coldplay shows..! This is why the pledge is important. For millions of people, classrooms with teachers, clinics with nurses, affordable medicines, running taps, and working toilets - are not something to be taken for granted, or taken at all. There is no reason why this should be the case. Vital public services - health, education, water and sanitation - can transform people’s lives. That is why, Oxfam is asking you to join the ‘6 Million More‘ pledge. We want 6 million of you to join us and demand health and eduation for all. The world needs free public health care and education. The world needs six million more trained teachers and health workers. And to make this happen, the world needs you. Tonight we took a small step closer to the 6 Million marker, to put pressure on governments around the world. We’re not done yet though. That’s Sheffield done. Now on to Birmingham.. p.s. The crowd was treated to a rare outing of ‘Trouble’ tonight, with Chris Martin at the piano. It’s a while since we have heard that one. http://www.oxfamblogs.org/coldplay/?p=112
