:o Just watched The Nappies video again to cheer myself up. OMG, I forgot how hilarious that was! I love this band...I mean, have you ever seen any other band in the world spoof like that? Seriously, the funniest and most talented band IN THE WORLD! :lol: I had actually logged off to go to bed but I can't seem to pull myself away from the board tonight...so I came back on!!!!

For some odd reason, this thread smacks of...well...crap. The thing I can't stand is when fans begrudge a band their success and that's what this seems to be. Okay, they're huge right now. So what? Let me see if I can address/rebut the points that you've brought up. First, I do believe that Parachutes was an absolutely beautiful and incredibly intimate record. But I never expected their following records to be a mirror of their first. Who would want to listen to a band regurgitate the same themes and the like? I love the fact that Coldplay has changed it up a bit and explored other feels in their music. I respect that and I also believe that if they HAD mirrored Parachutes, we would be reading about how little they've changed their music, how repetitive they are and how much they lack creativity. A damned if you do, damned if you don't type of situation. Give the guys a break! Their success allows them their exploration and obviously there are millions upon millions of fans out there who do appreciate their "bombastic" records. Unless of course, we've all been brainwashed...but I highly doubt that. I've been to a show of theirs and although it was in an amphitheater, it still had an incredible feeling of intimacy. I've been to many shows and it was, by far, the best I've ever seen. Again, yes, they're famous. And yes, they're well aware of that. How could they not be? But I don't believe that they've ever said they were "the greatest thing that ever happened to music" as you put it. I've heard Chris in interviews say it in jest but I'm not sure if they truly believe it. And if they even think that in the slightest, more power to them! I'd rather a band go out into the world with the desire to conquer rather than going in with a defeatist attitude. By the way, you've said that they've lost their focus. What exactly do you think their focus was? They did start out the band to make beautiful music and I believe they're still making beautiful music. Granted, they aren't the most poetic out there but what gets me about their songs aren't so much the lyrics as the inflections in Chris' voice, the amazing riffs from Jonny and the rhythm and beats from Guy and Will. That's why I love Coldplay. Anyway, I think I ranted enough. I just hate it when people come onto these boards and try to rip on the band. Although this person bashed them a little more eloquently than most but still... If you dislike who they are so much, don't listen to them...and definitely don't come onto a message board devoted to the band! I mean really... ...and I'm spent... :D

Been listeing to The Scientist...*sigh*...I love this band!!!!! You're not lame! Just obsessive, like me! I'm planning on visiting Southampton when I go to Europe next year! I was going to use amazon.com as my last resort. I figure that since it was a calender store that it'd have the calender of the world's best band. Alas, I was wrong... Guess I'll have to give in and buy it online... :cry:

Hello, ladies! I am SO sad right now! I went into a calender store in the mall in hopes of finding the Coldplay calender. Keep in mind that this is a store that sells strictly calenders! I looked around and saw calenders for Viva La Bam, Backstreet Boys and lots of kittens but NO COLDPLAY! I asked the lady at the counter and she just stared at me...that's it...just stared. Now I'm on the prowl for the calender...grrr...it's brought me all kinds of down! Can someone cheer me up with any Will goodies? :cry:
