  1. Yeah, unfortunately 2 of my favourite songs weren`t played...."Amsterdam" and "Careful Where You Stand". I have a friend and former band member in the UK who has seen Coldplay live 6 or 7 times. He`s the pianist/lead vocalist in a Coldplay tribute band called "Coolplay", which has been going for about 5 years.... Feel free to check out my songs, and spread them far and wide if you like them. I didn`t have enough confidence to push myself on people too much, so I`ll just let the music speak for me. If anyone would like to sponsor me to get them recorded properly :) I`d even let Coldplay play them if they asked nicely :)
  2. Oops! posted in the worng place it seems. Could a mod please move it to the `live` section. Cheers,
  3. After waiting SOOOOO long to see them (bought the tickets last September as soon as they were announced), we finally got to see Coldplay last night.... and they were fantastic. My hubbies b-day as well :) Such a tight band, and Jon can even carry on playing guitar when Chris drags him down to the floor. Lucky it was an easy progression he was playing while laying on his back with Chris (no, no dirty thoughts ok?... they`re just friends :) ). Chris is the consummate entertainer/nutter. I think he must be easily bored so he`s trying to entertain himself as much as the crowd. Jumping around, chucking wild `shapes`, cracking jokes, running. It`s like he has a cup of speed before going onstage. It`s brilliant! The other guys are far more reserved (not much choice as they`re more slaves to their instruments) but it`s great to see how much energy Will put`s into his drums.... beating them into submission, and Jon gyrating. Guy, he`s a far quieter figure on stage, but that probably lends him this superhero mystique. They all look great and Coldplay have presence (which sadly imho Youth Group don`t yet, but that may be because it was the first time I`d really heard them (except for `Forever Young` on RAGE, but that`s not their song anyway. Would love to hear a Coldplay cover of a nice Alphaville song.... wonder if they could handle "The Jet Set" ?), but what`s more important is that Coldplay played hot, not cold at all. Fantastic musicians.... what a sound. Chris is so funny :) He told this story of why they`re so grounded..... When they had played 3 gigs in a row in Madison Square Gardens, and were apparently one of the biggest bands in the world, he was down at the beach (they have a decent beach in NY??) and a guy with his kid came up and said how great they were etc etc, and also mentioned that the Wiggles had played there for 9 gigs in a row. So there`s always someone better than you. :) I`d heard that the Burswood Dome was the murderer of sound (apparently anyone who plays there sound terrible), but I`m guessing it must be the area you`re in, as the sound was great where we were (GA ... right in front of the stage). We got there about 6pm (concert due at 7:45), and there were already loads of people camped out, staking out their area`s. So we sat down as close as we could and waited. Even then, you get rude people pushing and barging in front of you and blocking your view. Lucky I`m tall, or I would have had to Kung-Fu some asses. Must buy a cattle prod for the next concert I go to..... Youth Group cam on at 7:45 or so, and they were ok. Not bad, not brilliant songs, except for the 3rd and 2nd last original songs, which I think sound ALOT better than what they annouced and played as their next single. Like I said... it may take a bit more familiarity with them to appreciate their music (just like Coldplay, funnily enough..... growers). They did a great job though and were very professional... a good choice as support. It was a bittersweet concert for them, they said, as it was the last one for them and it had been a great tour with Coldplay, who they thanked deeply. Coldplay played most of the songs you know and love, but a notable exception for us was "Amsterdam". We got a cover of Johnny Cash`s "Ring of Fire", so would like to hear the "Can`t Get You Out Of My Head" cover sometime if possible. My husband would like to hear the A-Ha cover ("Take On Me") as he used to be a fan of theirs (he has no taste sometimes, oh well..). It`s a pity we don`t know how to meet Coldplay here in Perth, as I would have loved to let my 2yr old Coldplay freak daughter (Damaris Aubrey Fire Storm) meet them. So if anyone has any info on where they`re staying etc :) We took some pics and stuff, which I`ll try to put up soon.....
  4. Cheers guys. Yeah she`s deadly cute (and far too intelligent for her age). Alyssa, checked out your Deviantness.... great stuff! You should be hired by Coldplay to take shots on tour. Seriously. I`m also an amateur photographer (Canon EOS 350D), and your photo`s of the band are amazing. I thought you were an official photographer until I saw your comment about getting some good seats that time.
  5. Funnily enough, I think she`s about the same age as Apple Martin, so I bet they get it alot worse than we do :) Damaris has always been into music. Probably from going to some gigs before she was born, and performing at gigs myself (all as smoke free as possible of course). Plus we`ve always played cd`s on repeat when she`s in her cot. She`s never been as obsessed by a particular artist before though. I`ll try and get some video of her singing along to some coldplay songs... very funny to listen to a less-than-2-yr-old :) So cute is right. *edit* I totally forgot... she`s already `sung` on a song herself.. the one I wrote about her: "Tonight". She was in the room when I sang it live. She has a fascination with the `Scientist` video... loves to see Chris walking backwards, and get`s animated when the wrecked car shows up.... starts explaining to us what`s happened :) She was a bit scared of the end of `God put a...` video (cos the man is a tad upset), but we have explained that he`s only playing... he`s an actor, and it`s alright (hence her saying "man crying, it`s alright.." etc. She says alot when she`s not singing. Have tried to get her to watch things like Shrek, Disney etc but they bore her. She likes watching Coldplay, Fiona Apple, Seal, George Michael, Jackie Wilson etc. Just a music freak. I hope we get a chance to let her meet Coldplay in July... would make her year :)
  6. Because my daughter Damaris Aubrey Fire Storm (23 months old) is obsessed with them. http://home.exetel.com.au/stormz/blog/gallery/test1/images/print___4_.jpg Every day she`s singing her favourite songs (or what words she can remember at her age anyway) .... The Scientist, God put a...., Fix You. As soon as she get`s up, she`s saying "watch Coldplay" or "watch Chris Martin?" (we have some music vids on dvd...), her favourite ones are The Scientist ("man walking backwards.... car crash!") and God Put a.... ("man crying, he`s alright"). We get home from somewhere.... "watch Chris Martin?". She has to watch the video`s at least a few times before she goes to bed at night. You know what babies are like... they watch a music video not once, but the same one 5 times in a row. She an addict and it`s all Coldplay`s fault. We even have to take her to the concert on July 7th (with earplugs of course), as we`d feel too guilty if we didn`t. She was a big Seal fan until she started getting into Coldplay. She went to a Seal concert (Brighton) and met him (she was in the womb at the time, but was bopping along to all the music, and probably felt it when he touched my big bump as well). But now.... it`s all Coldplay. Day and Night. Night and Day. At least it`s not death-metal she`s into I suppose :)
  7. no-one probably knows that Perth is the arse-end of the world when it comes to getting decent musicians here.... it`s an expensive place to travel to with not a huge population, so most promoters don`t see it as worth their while... they`ll stick to Sydney and Melbourne. So thank-you very much to Coldplay, their managers, promoters, etc etc.... whoever said they`d add Perth to the list. It`s very much appreciated. We can`t thank you enough. It`s going to be one of those nights you never forget.... that you tell your children about. Hopefully :)
  8. Hi all, I`m a Coldplay fan obviously :) (one of the few artists I listen to very regularly... some others would be Seal, John Lennon, Jackie Wilson, Annie Lennox, Freakpower, Sam Cooke, George Michael etc etc). My husband was into early (first 2 albums) A-ha, which I don`t like, so was surprised to find Coldplay like them. I`m also a singer/songwriter who suffered from depression for most of the last 10 years, which kind of put an end to me actually going out there and pushing my music (like I should have). Originally I`m from S`ton, but my parent`s moved to Australia when I was a baby. I went back to the UK about 12 yrs ago and lived in S`ton, London, Basildon (Essex) and Maidstone (Kent). Came back to Perth recently to let my two girls (22 months and 6 months) have their extended family around them. We never got the chance to see Coldplay in the UK, but luckily they are coming to Perth in July... and we can`t wait!
