invite to listening session and free mp3's
Hi sweeties, I'm one of the artists on the Coldplaying 'How We See The World' cd. Some of you may remember me trying to get somewhere on a site where fans fund the music? You may also remember that I did it in June 2007, and got signed to a new music label in Europe started by ex Sony and EMI execs. Then I was whisked off to Amsterdam to perform at the Paradiso, where I met Mick Glossop (producer of Van Morrison, Frank Zappa, PIL, Sinead O'Connor etc etc). Then I went to have a meeting with him in London. Then in November I returned to London to record my debut album with him (and Johnny Scott (Van the man's guitarist), Liam Genockey (Steeleye Span), Tim Harries (Steeleye Span, Katie Melua etc), and James Lascelles (Frank Zappa). The album was mastered by Kevin Metcalfe (Queen, The Who, U2, Paul McCartney etc)). Well, tonight at 20:00 - 21:00 CET (19:00 - 20:00 GMT) is the listening session/release of the album ("Fire & Snow")... online. And if any of you would like to pop by that would be cool. I'll be there via Skype and chat (even at 4am in Perth). Afterwards there will be free mp3's to download. Hope to see you there. The album was all recorded live as a band, together, just like in the 60's, and in 1 - 3 takes. No cheating/editing/trickery. A few overdubs of guitar and backing vox in another studio, and that's it. The album is influenced by the late 60's/early 70's. Hope you like it. http://www.sellaband.com/sellabandallaccess/mandyleigh I still promote HWSTW as much as possible btw, as it's a great album for a great cause. Also, our very own Tracie Morgan is also on Sellaband trying to raise the support for her own album... http://www.sellaband.com/tmorgan/

Yay! recording my debut album! :)
HI Thinker, yeah I`m on MySpace but I`m not a huge fan of it to be honest (too clunky). Better to listen to me at www.sellaband.com/mandyleigh/ and www.mandyleigh.com . I'm on Facebook too but haven't figured out how to put my own mp3's on there yet (if it's even possible). Search for Mandyleigh Storm. Hey, good luck with your album! You doing much pre-production? Chosen a producer yet? Just listened to your music on MySpace, and I love it. It's very haunting (Under the Sky). I'll buy the album when it's out, that's for sure. Very impressed. You should get on sellaband and get some investment going. They would love your music. Build Up Your Castle is really cool (though I couldn't hear the vocals much, I love the melody). Do you have your own website? Couldn't download any of the songs for some reason (??).

How We See The World is on MySpace!!!
Thanks :) I`m really loving the recording side of things (recording at Dean St is a buzz.... where Bowie etc have recorded). I'll need as much luck as possible to get the album known when it's released though :) Mate! mate! mate! (sorry, my little girls LOVE Finding Nemo, and those scenes always crack us up) :) I'll definitely keep everyone informed and tell you when it's released and where to get the 3 free mp3's from (sellaband.com ... there are some free mp3's from other artists there you can grab already btw).

Ron Paul for President 2008

the thread for AWESOME album art!
Some great art there. I like alot of Roger Dean's covers (he did most of the 'YES' albums). Cheap Thrills by Big Brother & The Holding Company (with Janis Joplin) is a classic too. I'm recording my debut album now, and would like your opinion on this, which is very similar to what my album cover will be, but with my face, different hair shape (I don't have an Afro :) ), and some different elements in the hair (like some butterflies). The artist who did this is designing my album cover, and I think he's brilliant. The album sound is very late 60's early 70's, so the hippy style fits in very well. So, is this a killer image (basis for my album cover) or what? http://www.jeffhopp.net

Yay! recording my debut album! :)
Thanks ariadnasquire :) I need it. Even if it turns out to be the greatest album in the world (maybe nearly as cool as Coldplay :) ), it doens't mean anything unless people hear about it. That's the challenge. The 2nd challenge is getting people to pay for it when most of teenagers today (and alot of adults) expect music to be free. I need to eat too though..... nice pic of 'House' btw (and good quotes from Mika.... my girls and I LOVE his album). You should watch 'LIFE' btw, that's an excellent new tv show. I'm still in shock that the girl from Eastenders is the Bionic Woman :)

"How We See the World" Avail for Download on E-Music
Have you tried cbaby.com as well? Also, if someone does sponsor the manufacturing, kunaki.com do cd's for $1.60 each, no matter what the quantity is. Just have to sort out posting of the cd'e then, which is alot more expensive.

Please help me to perform in London
Hi everyone, I`m a long-time member of the forums, and also one of the artists on the "How we see the world" charity cd released by the forum. I need your help, if possible. If you join the team, you'll get to download ALL of my mp3's (over 40). I`m an artist on Sellaband.com, which is a site that was started up last August by ex Sony Music Europe and Sony BMG people. Artists upload music, listeners invest, and then the artist records and releases a worldwide album (in stores and online). The investors share 50% of the cd profits, and 1/3 of the sites ad revenue (which would be huge, as some tracks will be available for free download). Investors also get a limited edition cd for every part they buy. Money can be moved or refunded at any time, until the target of $50k is reached.... so there's really nothing to lose. 4 artists have already made the target and are recording right now. Probably have 2 cd's released in June :) I'm the #4 artist in the world, out of over 3000 artists/bands. Until May 1, Sellaband are having a competition where the 3 artists that attract the most amount of new 'believers' (investors), get to perform in London at a Showcase (details here: http://www.sellaband.com/tribune/edition29/ ). All it takes is $10 USD (about 5 pounds) to help me get to London. If you want your money back later, you can get it refunded. So please, please have a listen to my music at www.sellaband.com/mandyleigh/ and www.mandyleigh.com and if you can, help me perform in London in front of the music press and industry. I'm really desperate to perform there. Thanks for your time :) Love, Mandyleigh XXX

How We See The World is on MySpace!!!
Thanks Tracie for your excellent organisation and putting the dream into reality. You have worked so hard, and put your OWN money into this. It is really humbling to be a part of it... thank-you for asking me. Gonna spread the word far and wide once the cd is available to buy. Brilliant cover. Well done Nadia for the EXCELLENT banners :)

How are we gonna sell the music???
Personally I think MySpace is terrible... so hard to use, so clunky, ugly, and takes forever to load because of all the 'adds' on there. It's definitely good to have a Myspace page, but I don't think it should be the main advertisement for people to buy a cd with... a url only costs a couple of dollars, and my hubby could host it for free, or you could get a hosting company like dreamhost.com to donate the hosting.

How are we gonna sell the music???
We need a website done to promote the cd. Where all the info and details on how/where to buy is easy to read and follow. You could also let people listen to the tracks (use a flash mp3 player) before they chose to buy. Add all the charities involved etc.... then it's MUCH easier for us all to promote. My hubby is a web designer for the govt, who can help if you want.

Sellaband.com
Overnight I moved up back up to 8th :)

Sellaband.com
Adam Sieff (A&R expert and former head of Sony Music Jazz) invested in me and said this: "Excellent songs and a beautiful hearfelt voice. A key member of the Australian Sellaband explosion and deserves to go all the way to $50K! " It's really nice that people like my songs, but without your investment I won't be able to record them properly, or any new ones (much rockier btw... even one heavy rock song :) ). Love, Mandyleigh

Random Coldplay thoughts...
Do you think if Chris kept on growing his hair, it would go really cool Afro like the dude from Wolfmother? Or go more like Michael Bolton??
-
What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
Amsterdam.... although it fights with "Fix You" alot. No clear winner yet :)
-
Sellaband.com
btw, I`m also a believer myself on Sellaband, and the artists I have invested in and recommend for you fellow Coldplay fans are: Mesa Street Exit Kane Sole Daniel Ward Murphy Sasha Vella Light I invested in Cubworld too, but as he has already hit the 50k and will be recording his album soon, you can't invest, but you can still listen.... he is great. I may be doing a cover of one of his songs soon, for fun :)

Sellaband.com
Hi Soufianemac2! Cool! :) I used to have suicidal depression when I was much younger... and that song was written about me by my boyfriend. I also have a piano blues version of it, which some other people like even better than that one. Wow, you got to it quick :) As an incentive for 'believers' (what they call investors), I`ve been posting 16-track demo cd's, giving extra parts and giving access to a super-secret exclusive believers page.... loads of Mp3's, video links and the process of songs I`m writing, asking people which songs to record in the studio soon etc. Lot's of stuff. Hopefully you'll like me enough to 'believe' too :) Glad you like Grey :) I have many more styles of music (ballads, pop, rock) on my website.... http://www.mandyleigh.com . I've said it elsewhere in the forums, but my favourite Coldplay songs (that I wish I had written) are Amsterdam and Fix You.

Sellaband.com
Hi all! You should all go and check out http://www.sellaband.com , a new site that was started by some ex Sony Music Europe and Sony BMG execs. They got sick of churning out the same crap all the time. My profile is http://www.sellaband.com/mandyleigh/ Artists upload music. People listen, and invest $10 per part. Money can be moved or refunded at any time until the target is reached. When the $50k target is reached (2 have done it so far!), the artist gets a top A&R, Producer and Studio to record a top album. Album is released worldwide, and some tracks are free on Sellaband. Investors share 50% of the cd profits and 1/3 of the site's ad revenue. I`m 8th atm, out of about 1800 artists :) Please check Sellaband and myself out. Your support for me would be fantastic, but if you don't like me, there are a lot of great artists on there. I'm aiming at being top 5 in the next 2 months, and then reaching the target by November this year (not impossible... Nemesea did it within a few months, Cubworld took 6 months.... once you reach a certain amount, it snowballs. 2nd Person were on 12k only a few weeks ago... now are over 20k... they'll reach the target in less than 2 months). Would love some love from you guys, and hey, if Coldplay read this... hope to see you join the team too :) Love, Mandyleigh ps I`m a proper big Coldplay fan and member of this forum for a long time... this isn't random spam :)

Coldplayers For Coldplayers CD(READ 1st post)
Hey Tracie, I`d be happy to contribute. Just let me know what I can do from now. I write my own songs so what sort of songs would you like? What does the charity do? I don`t get online too much anymore and when I do time is limited as we have two little babies to look after, so if you can let me know all about this, thanks. Take care and peace, Mandyleigh x
