  1. Brisbane 23 and 24 June This is coming from someone who a) has only started getting into Coldplay after seeing the Speed of Sound vid a few months ago and b) happens to think that Parachutes and Yellow in particular are pretty crap, so hopefully it's a bit more of an objective review..... Brisbane Friday 23 - sat in the rhs of the entertainment centre, good seat, great view and all that. Pros - great set, sound, and light show. Cons - the band seemed to be going thru' the motions (almost identical set from the Jan 06 Seattle shows) and most of the crowd around seemed to be there just for the sake of seeing the band and weren't all that enthusiatic. A lot of folded arms and sms's being sent to friends during the show, jeez.... Overall rating: a disappointing 7/10, made up of 8/10 for band effort/lighting/set and 6/10 audience response. Brisbane Saturday 24 - tracked down tickets thru' ebay for the mosh-pit. What a huge difference. Close to the stage and a whole different perspective. Ok, the set was pretty much the same but you could see that the band - especially Chris - was really cranking things up, so the crowd was far more responsive, so the band then gave even more - a case of one feeding off the other's enthusiasm. Chris strutted around, head-banged the keyboards and rocked on his seat, Jonny belted out some great riffs, Will beat the hell out of drums and Guy kicked out the bass lines. Pros - haunting versions of The Scientist and Fix You, full-on performances of the big tracks like Speed of Sound, Talk and Clocks, and great audience response. Cons - no real variation in the set. Ok, big statement coming now - straight up, I reckon Saturday night's show was the best gig I've EVER been to with the overall highlight being Fix You - what a way to end the show and it amost bordered on the emotional. Fantastic stuff. But then again, if you're watching the show from a comfy seat or way from the back then you'll maybe miss what it's all about. Get yourselves into the Coldplay mosh-pit and you'll have the time or your life!
