  1. X&Y

jwop3000 replied to justpeachy's topic in Coldplay
Now, I'm fine if anyone doesn't like the album itself, because that's their sincere and honest opinion and I respect that. But reading certain comments on VLV media review threads, and seeing the repeated attacks on any outlet that gives VLV a lower score than X&Y, I'm kinda detecting a general sentiment that "anyone who likes X&Y is a moron/not a true fan". I'm a little upset with that kind of attitude, especially the claims that everyone who gave it good reviews only did so because of the hype. Maybe, just maybe, there are people who praised it because they genuinely liked it? I myself like the album very much, and I do NOT AT ALL appreciate these kinds of ignorant, meanspirited assumptions.
  2. X&Y has kind of a special place in my heart. It was not only my 1st Coldplay album, it was my gateway into music. I bought it on a whim after hearing Speed of Sound on the radio and being blown away by it. After listening to the record multiple times, I got the other CP albums. After that, I began to look up similar artists and purchase albums from them and, lo & behold, I've become an avid music fan. I'm not blind to the album's shortcomings -- too long, lyrics a little too generic, etc -- but it's still a fine record from where I stand. And I'm also glad that the boys are taking a different direction with the fourth album.
