  1. Great insight fakfak. To me on the Twisted Logix/X&Y tour, that intro with the countdown for Square One and then the performance of Square One was just mind blowing. Then during the same show after completely blowing my mind what did they do about an hour later??? Completely blow my F&^$ing mind again by playing a version of clocks that was longer, changed tempo, and incorporated the arenas ciruclar lighting effects into play (at least newer arenas with that type of digital display). I know Chris Martin was just swinging a light on a rope around during Fix You on that tour, but damn if I wasnt moved by it!
  2. Just adding some perspective Mikey-boy. What are you even talking about? Did you write the set-lists or something? Are you tour manager? Or just offical messageboard enforcer?
  3. You've got to be kidding me right? You mean to tell me that they have to do the songs in the order becuase of the DVD filimg??? Like they arent going to edit and cut it to hell in the editing room???
  4. Whether a guy takes a 2 minute break and walks behind stage and sips off a water bottle or not does not make it special or unplanned to me Mike. My point is that Green Eyes had been played in Vegas a couple nights prior thus losing its specialness or uniqueness to Chicago. They also played 2 encores at the 2nd show at the Forum. Also, played another song after DAAHF in Vegas. The second show in Chicago did get a minute of a new song, cheers. I mean really why are people using the word unplanned here? Its not like the guys were backstage taking their trousers off and said to each other, "Wow, wait a minute guys, the fans are really clapping louder than we've heard anywhere else on tour thus far. Lets go out and give 'em one more song! How 'bout it fellas!?!? **Group high Five**" Its a little rediculous to me. Yeah and according to Cubs.com or ticketmaster every cubs game is sold out after the first day tickets go on sale so go figure what pollstars info is worth. And FYI, it was the Tuesday show that was added, not the wednesday I believe, please correct me if I'm wrong. I was in section 201 in the club level and had a decent view of the joint. I thought it would've been fuller lets put it that way. And also the low prices people were able to get outside the arena and from craigslist is what I am gauging demand by. I didnt think the show was "bad" either. Just a dissappointment from last years thats all (and lasts years were amongst the best shows I've ever been to, especially in Noblesville, IN where I was fortunate enough to get pit tickets through the fanclub presale, which no longer exist apparently).
  5. I dont see how you can say it was unplanned!? They've had encores at each of the previous 4 shows on the tour havent they (5 including Chicago's tuesday night show)? Coldplay doesnt/wont do something "unplanned" (aka not thought about at least 24 hours in advance) at one of these shows, there is just too much at stake and too much to coordinate! And I believe that the amount of fans "that suck" at a show directly correlates to bands putting on a "sucky" performance (I'm not saying Coldplays performace "sucked" mind you). I can tell you that I was a lot more into last years shows than I was at this years show. And yes, I might've even gotten out my phone to send a text or two during the performance!
  6. There were plenty of empty seats in the 300's on Tuesday night, that's for sure. And I sure wouldnt call 60 seconds of a new song (that apparently no one could clearly make out the title of or discern any of the words) drastically changing the setlist by any means.
  7. This is the main reason I didnt go two nights in a row, they did the same thing 2 years ago when they played back to back shows (but last years shows were actually worth going to!) Wow, 95% of this thread are people gushing about how cute the band is!!! Good God people!
  8. Yeah, just like the last tour when they had that whole contest to have people film it from different vantage points. Just becuase they "were filming" last night in chicago, I wouldnt by any means bank on there being a DVD released for fans.
  9. So I assume a lot of you went to shows for the X&Y album correct? Well which tour did you like better? I thought last nights show was a let down compared to last year honestly. First off Coldplay has always really only played for an hour and half so that complaint has been around for years now, but they still continue to do it. I mean for $120 each ticket (incl fees) one would at least expect 2 hours worth or some crowd interaction! I know this isnt VH1 Storytellers, but come on, a guy can only ask "Are you guys feeling ok?" so many times. I just thought this whole show lacked excitement. Last years show with the Square one opening, the new version of clocks, accoustic set-up, yellow balloons, etc was far better in my opinion than orbs with video played on them, lasers (which were used on the previous 3 tours), and paper butterflies. Another thing I dont like is that most of this new album uses instruments that the guys arent even playing! I was hoping for someone playing the violin (but I guess they arent adding a 5th member to Coldplay) or something during this show, but no, just computers playing recorded instruments. And so Chris said something about them doing something special for the fans if they could play Lost twice? What exactly was this special treat? They played Green Eyes already on the tour so that couldnt have been it. No special encore, becuase they've played one on every show this tour thus far. They played Lost twice and that was the only thing that was unique about last night and I personally didnt thats that big a deal. Whoa the same song twice in a row becuase you want to make a DVD? Cool dude! Before last nights show, I was actually thinking about going two nights in a row, but now its out of the question. I also dont think I'll be going to another show on their tour this year (this after seeing 5 shows last year). Did anyone else see it this way???
  10. They just released more seats to both the chicago shows about 10 mins ago if anyone still needs tickets.
  11. This show is more than likely going to be great. They have had plenty of time off so I doubt theyre going to be tired (unless they are enjoying the city of Chicago a little TOO much). Since its the first of 2 shows in Chicago, I would assumed they'd be more pumped for the first. Glad I got tickets to this one.
  12. Love the blog, perfect for a stats geek like myself.
  13. I logged on to ticket bastard at about 11:15 (15 mins after tix went on sale) and the best i got was section 6 on the floor, row 9. I ended up settling on section 201 row 7. 2 years ago, we sat in section 109 (4 of us went) row 3 or something. I wasnt too impressed with those seats by any means. I'm thinking these seats are better. I searched from 11:15 to about 12:20 just refreshing seats.
  14. I am a little TO'd at the way things were handled this year. No fanclub pre-sale, no official message board, nothing for the fans! That whole Block Buster pre-sale thing was a waste of time. The codes were done being given out after an hour of being available. Tickets for the first Chicago show were sold out the day of. TONS of good seats are being auctioned off! I still dont get this whole auctining tickets off for the show, what a rip off for the fan. I guess if they didnt reserve them and auction them off, scalpers would just get them and resell them anyways. I'm going to attempt to get tix this saturday but wont be too disappointed if I dont. I dont even think I am going to buy the album, might just burn a copy. This is coming from someone who went to the midnight sale to get the album last year and went to 5 coldplay shows on the last tour (and got the most expensive seats).
  15. I created an account successfully, when I click on "Get Code", this pops up "We're sorry. We are not able to process your request at this time. Please try again later. " Ohh well, after reading about it on the RewardZone Community board, it sounds like people werent even able to get good seats. I hope some are saved for Saturday morn. I gaurantee that the "normal" ticketmaster user on saturday morning wont be getting floor seats. I did this last year (cant remember if they had a Coldplay.com presale or not) but the best I got was 1st row in the 100 section in the back right corner. Seats sucked for the price, but Chris did run up by us toward the end of the show.
