03-Aug-08: Washington - Tickets, Preview, Meetups, Review/Photos [originally 02-Jul]
Were we at the same concert??? I read the Washington Post Review from the Sunday Evening show, and while I know it was mostly positive, I couldn't quite believe we were at the same show. Coldplay was out of its mind, crazy over the top outrageous!!!!! We were sitting in section 1 row F (and when the rows started at C we were in the fourth row on the aisle where the band came down the catwalk). The crowd was electric...I've been to several U2 concerts, and this crowd was SO into the music...everyone up standing, singing every word to every song. I don't know if U2 fans even know the words to every song. The band was engaging, all personable and a connection with the audience unparalleled. Since I've seen the band live now for the 5th time, I think they just get better with time. They are so seasoned now at performing live, they have it down to a science. I think they are simply being themselves, comfortable in their own shoes, and it shows. I have to get my daughter and her friends to post their pictures because they are amazing. I joked that on the drive back to NY we should stop in Philly and catch them again, and if anyone took me up on it I would have done. They simply bring happiness to their fans, and the butterfly effect was simply amazing.

BEWARE OF STUBHUB
We had 4 not so good tickets, and splurged on 2 really good tickets...now I have the 4 bad ones, and will find 2 more when I get there...

BEWARE OF STUBHUB
It sure feels good to vent. As of right now, I haven't gotten refunded, but they did say they would. I know getting the money back sounds like all should be OK, but I am stuck flying 5 kids down to a concert with no guarantee yet of 2 more seats. It just seems like if this was a phony seller, STUBHUB should have figured this out 3 months ago when I bought the tickets. $1900 is a lot of money!!! I bought them when we thought the show was in July and we were in the city anyway looking at colleges. When it was rescheduled, I told STUBHUB I would stand by the tickets for the new date even though we had no reason to be in DC anymore (but seeing Coldplay is a good one). Now I am committed with airfare and 4 other tickets!!! And if I knew a month ago, I could have had more choices with seat selection. Now, everything is sold out. Well, what a great website, and what great fans who listened to me all day. I know I will get down there and it will all be OK. And when the band starts to play...i'll forget how many rows closer I should have been. I can't wait to hear "lost" live...

BEWARE OF STUBHUB
I am a HUGE Coldplay fan, as I know many of you are. I have seen the X&Y show 4 times, once at the Garden, once in Raleigh Durham, and twice at Nassau Coliseum. I am so excited to see the Viva La Vida tour in DC this weekend. But I had an awful STUBHUB experience that I would like to share with all serious ticket buyers for Coldplay. I bought two high priced tickets ($1900) for 4th row center back in March on STUBHUB. The tickets were confirmed by STUBHUB in March, reconfirmed last week and then cancelled yesterday. Either the tickets were sold to a higher bidder or the seller was not legitimate. The company does not own any comparable tickets at this late date to replace them with so I am out of 2 great seats to the show. This was a graduation present for my daughter and her friends (who also LOVE Coldplay). We are flying down, have a hotel, and a rental car. I have managed to find 2 not so great seats, but am really disapointed that after so much planning, the experience is ruined. BEWARE OF STUBHUB!! They cannot guarantee comparable seats!!!
