Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Wow, repeating what you said with no explanation! WHat a magnificent argument! None of us know mroe then a few soundbyte worthy quotes and absolutely nothing from either artist, and yet you're completely fine with assuming the world out of it? THat's nothing but arrogance. The favour being, stop posting on the board unless have speak positively of Coldplay. Except you don't know what you're talking about. Did your "research" involve reading Youtube comments by twelve year old cretins? It doesn't matter what sections the melodies are. If I take a Coldplay chorus and make it a verse, is it suddenly not plaguarism? No, don't be stupid. It also doesn't matter what key it is in - if I take a Coldplay song and digitally alter the key and call it my own song, does that means I'll get away with it? No, for god almighty sakes, it doesn't matter what key the song is in, music doesn't work like that. Both songs still have, regardless of what key they are in, the exact same ii-IV-I-iv chord progression, similar melody that also repeats itself in the same manner, as well as the same soft rock feel and tempo. Regardlessof the validity of the lawsuit, that is what they'll be working with, and it's silly that you won't acknowledge at least that. You're saying that like a bad thing. The fact that 90% of the people don't have the simple platience to admit that an unusual legal case, which they know next to nothing about, might be more complcated then it looks, I don't think I'd want any.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
blatant satriani fan That's already been mentioned. And to the other post, I'm just as tired of the "fukken balding cancer-hed notalent hack who just wants $$$!!! cant play 4 shit he shud just fukken die!!!!11" comments. Of course I'm used to the "shit million-nps metalhead shredder" ones, though, so it's not that bad. Although the comments seem to be divided between "coldplay is fukken gay!!1! its 4 fags!! go satch, beat them!" and "satriani mroe liek SHITriani! coldplay 4 evr" pretty evenly, showing how stupid both sides seem to be. I think Coldplay is going to be just fine after all this, because everyone's already heard of them and they will continue to be popular, no matter what. If they thought "lol gay" before that, then they were already a lost cause. But now we have thousands of people first hearing even Satriani's name and the only thing attached to it is "no talent greedy faggot!!", as you can clearly see from the countless comments in articles, blogs, and this thread in particular. If we would just wait for more information on an obviously unusual case or for this to blow over, instead of dwelling on it, would be better for all of us. But I know that's not going to happen.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
They've mentioned him before in an interview six years ago. He plays absolutely nothing like EVH. What, is he the only so called "shredder" you even know the name of? He self-admittedly takes from Allan Holdsworth and Jimi Hendrix, such as in Saying Goodbye, Flying in a Blue Dream, and House Full of Bullets.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
People who are saying "The key is different!" are idiots who don't know anything about music. Just because two people sing Happy Birthday in different pitches, it doesn't mean they're different songs. The melody is similar as well, and the chord progression is exactly the same, that being ii-IV-I-iv. Even though it's a common progression (Cliffs of Dover, for one). But again, it doesn't matter what key it is. People who are saying "omg its fake vid he changed the key and edited it fuck hiM!!" shouldn't be allowed to breathe. They probably just saw someone say it in a Youtube comment and don't know what it means. I believe Satriani's legal counsel chose to wait this long because Satriani was busy touring, recording a DVD, recording an album with another group, and plenty of other things over the past half a year. He just finished. So there you go. Satriani feels very passionately about music so he probably got overemotional about the whole thing. He's not doing this because "omgz hes teh notalent bastrd whu cars abut the munee FUK HIIIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!". He's a fan of coldplay, has them playing on their tour bus, and has said one of their records is "a perfect pop record" before. So it was not done out of malice. As for my opinion (because I'm sure EVERYONE cares); Joe should drop the lawsuit because I doubt he will win because I still think it's just a silly coincidence, and this whole thing is terrible PR anyways, and I hope this thing just blows over and everyone forgets about it in a month or two. I still hate that this is HEADLINE NEWS in some areas, I mean goddamn, slow news day? And good luck with the grammies, VLV definitely deserves something big. And some more song-stealing laughs to go around, so we can put this all behind us: [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4KX7SkDe4Q]YouTube - Producer Timbaland rips song from finnish musician?[/ame] [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_AOlxBnBA0w]YouTube - Dragonforce - Fields of Despair vs. Super Hang On[/ame]
