I be Jimmy, I'm from Newark, NJ, and I hate Coldplay... well, I used to anyway. I'm a musician myself, guitar is my main bag. I've grown up listening to a lot of classic rock, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, Cream, The Who, The Beatles, etc. I was a big grunge follower as a kid, loved Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, etc. I like hard hitting rock and roll and Soft Rock has never done it for me. So naturally, when Coldplay came out, my initial reaction was disgust. I hated them and considered them to be a bunch of fags. That started to change when I saw how popular they were getting. I couldn't understand it. What was so great about these guys? When Viva La Vida came out, I decided to give it a listen. I'm a big fan of Brian Eno's work with U2 so I figured, "Well hey, if Brian produced it, it must be good." When I first listened to it, I felt the same way I did before about all the other Coldplay albums. Fast foward a few listens later, it started to sink in a little. I'm still not a fan of Coldplay, but closer than I've ever been at the moment. The only problem I really have with Coldplay (I think they are all excellent musicians and they write good songs) is their energy. I find them to be very boring at times. If you wanna help me see what it is that makes Coldplay the greatest band out there now, I'd love to hear it. ~Jimmy~
