  1. Well, it's a Summer Krush concert, but how often has it been for the Grammy foundation? It's simple economics...why would the band reduce the amount of money to be donated to the Grammy foundation by giving away free tickets? Also note: they are checking ids and from i've read, there is an age limit, which goes in line with my theory of the free tickets being related to the T.V taping. I guess we'll have to wait and see. It'd be awesome if the free tickets are in the GA area, but I don't see that happening. Who knows, lol...
  2. I just thought of something, and it kinda make sense for the purpose of the free tickets: Parts of the show are going to be filmed for Jimmy Kimmel Live, a late night talk show and the tickets to taping of any type of show like that (Jay Leno, David Letterman) are given away, for free. I went to a taping of American Idol a few years back and the tickets were for free and I was simply a "space filler" because they didn't want any empty seats to show on camera. This leads me to believe that the free tickets might have something to do with the taping of the show for T.V. Whether they are looking for seat fillers (which wouldn't make sense....all Coldplay shows always sell out) or looking for a large group of people for another reason, I don't know, but I really believe there is some correlation between the free tickets and the T.V taping. Don't get me wrong, Coldplay is a great band, but this concert is a benefit concert, and I find it hard to believe they would give away (and lose hundreds of dollars in donations) just to be nice. There has to be some relation to the T.V taping. Sec. 18 would make sense because from a T.V perspective, they would want it to look like the entire venue is filled up, which means filling up seats that have no view of the stage at all. I could be totally wrong, but it makes sense in my head that the free tickets have something to do with the T.V taping.
  3. I need some help... Usually when I go to a Coldplay concert, I wear a simple t-shirt and shorts, however, because I'll be in the VIP section, I'm not sure to wear. I don't want to show up in t-shirt and shorts and be undressed . Conversely, I don't want to wear a full suit and be over dressed. Input from any gentlemen (or ladies) that have the VIP tickets would be greatly appreciated. My fiancee already has her entire outfit picked out and I'm at a total loss, so I thought asking on here couldn't hurt. I usually don't give much effort into how I look, however, I don't want to stick out like a sore thumb. I'm thinking black slacks and a dress shirt? Thanks!!
  4. I really think the free tickets will be in the GA area....where else would they be? It seems like a lot of people have won a lot of the free tickets and I wouldn't be surprised if they were in the GA area because I don't see where else that amount of people could fit. With that being said, if I were a paying customer and had seats in one of the sections further away and found out that I could have sat in GA for free, I would be pretty upset. I know that most of the first couple of rows in the floor sections are VIP tix (that's where my seats are) and I know the $160 tickets were around the sides. I also saw that the areas that appear to be at the side or behind the stage were over $100 as well. Was anyone able to purchase GA tickets? As of right now, there is only 22 for sale on Stubhub with a few more scatter on eBay. I'm still thinking that the free tickets would be in the pit... Also, I know that the VIP tix come with an exclusive Coldplay gift and since my fiancee and I are both going, if the gift is identical for both of us, we will be selling one of them and donating the proceeds to St. Judes Children's Hospital, and I'll give Coldplayers first opportunity :) Only a week away....:P
  5. From the venue website: "Cars and vans may park for $8 per vehicle in Lot 6. Parking attendants are available at the entrance to each lot approximately one hour prior to most UCLA Athletic events. Early arrivals should visit the parking Westwood Blvd. parking kiosks to obtain parking passes. Buses with E-plates park for free and should visit the parking kiosk on Westwood Blvd. for more information. " Hope this helps :)
  6. I know, I just got my parking pass in the mail too. Is anyone going to try and meet up? I think there are two groups of us, normal tickets, and VIP ticket holders. I'm more than willing to meet up with anyone with VIP tickets in the preshow area if anyone is interested. I also have friends going who won the free tickets that I'm going to try and meet up with as well. I also tried for the free tickets but wouldn't feel right if I got them since I'm already going...I think they're better going to someone who normally couldn't afford to go to a Coldplay concert. At least its Coldplay fans that are going instead of scalpers. Does anyone know where the free tickets are going to be seated? I wouldn't be surprised if it was in the GA pit...I couldn't imagine where else they'd be, its an incredibly small venue.
  7. My name is Graeme (pronounced Graham, like the cracker) I'll be there with Bee (my fiancee) and like Caroline said, we have the seats right next to her (Sec. 202, Row 1, Seats 13-14). I bought the VIP tix because we'll be celebrating our 6th anniversary and I couldn't think of a better way to celebrate than with Coldplay :). I'm really hoping for something autographed by the band for the free gift, but who knows, lol. For those of you with VIP tix, I emailed the customer service contact and they mentioned that the preshow activities will start around 6:30pm or earlier, but they weren't exactly sure. If you do have VIP tix, I'd love to meet up during the pre-show activities and as much as I'd like to meet up after the show, I have to be at work at 8am the next morning so we'll be heading home after its finished. Less than two weeks :)
  8. I have VIP tix and wouldn't mind mingling with fellow Coldplayers during the preshow. Message me for my cell if your interested :)
  9. That's funny...I have seats 13-14 of that row..hahahaha. I'm excited to be sitting next to a fellow Coldplayer :)
  10. VIP experience? Hey guys, I'm a long time reader of these boards, but only post on occasion. I've been to multiple Coldplay shows in Los Angeles over the years and decided to purchase the VIP experience to this show for my fiancee and I's 6th anniversary. Does anyone have any more information on what the VIP experience entails? I read what it said on ticketmaster's website and everything was kinda of vague. Has anyone had the VIP experience at a Coldplay show before? We got great seats (Sec. 202, Row 1) and I would love to meet up with any other fellow Coldplayers who are going to be at the show. Again, any information or speculation that anyone has would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone. :)
  11. Well I've had a change of plans. I'm leaving my house at 7am and should be in the parking lot around 8am. I'm going to find the nearest security gaurd and ask where people with GA tickets are supposed to line up and go from there. I know of a few people who are going to get there really early as well, but I think i should be one of the first 50 if i get there that early. Good luck to everyone with GA tickets and hope to see you there.
  12. @peterkhoy As far as I'm concerned, I wouldn't care if someone held a spot for 5 or so people, as long as i knew about it there would be no problems. The last thing I would want is to be waiting around since 10am to find out that 5 more people will be ahead of me at 6pm when the gates open.
  13. @labrat2001 No problem!! I want to make this concert experiance enjoyable for the hard core coldplay fans (like myself and my fiancee) and not the loosers who are going just because. I'll call again tomorrow morning and post any updates  My view is this....if enough of us band together we should all be able to get a front row view of the stage and not have to deal with line cutter sor those idiots who try to push their way to the front after we wait in line all day. Also, the more people in a group the better the experiance is for everyone! As far as camera policy, as long as its not professional i believe it will be okay. Last year when i went to see Coldplay at the Forum and at Honda Center my fiancee hid the camera in her purse under some tampons and had no problems getting it in:D Hope to see everyone at 10am on Saturday morning. I'm a white 5'8, 200lbs or so , guy with a buzzcut and I'll be with my fiancee who is latino with brown hair. Look for us and lets band together to make this the best coldplay concert for all us hardcore fans because who knows when they will be back next...
  14. Just so you are aware...you will not be allowed any access to the parking lot or the stadium before 7am. Showing up at 6am would mean you'd have to drive around for an hour before hand then have access to the parking lot. If you don't believe me call the number listed a few posts ago. I'm showing up at 10am and i really doubt that many people will be in line in front of me... I'll bring sunblock and snacks to share with those who are waiting in line with me :)
  15. I'll be happy if i'm one of the first 50 in line. I mean, think about it, the stage is pretty big and it has the cat walks on either side...so if I can get in front of one of the catwalks, or along the edge of one I'd be a happy camper, lol. I hope to meet some of you in line on Saturday :):)
