22-Jul-09: Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, Houston, TX - Tickets, Previews, Meetups, Reviews, Setli
I just decided to head over from New Orleans sometime last week. I bought a single PIT ticket from a scalper for $180. I've seen Coldplay a ton but I was going to be in Beaumont for work this week so I just decided to finish the drive to Houston. Is anybody else in PIT? If it's as small as some of ya'll are saying than I guess I can just show up whenever. Is there an opening group for this show?

I'm really surprised by all the empty seats in the background of this picture. I was at the show and it seemed to me that every seat in the lower level was PACKED and that 90% of the seats in the upper level were full. Was that not the case?

Hey just bumping with some info in case anyone is interested... Ticketmaster has pretty much sold out the lower bowl but now if you search "100 level off floor" you will get seats in section 116 and 121 which are considered to be "behind the stage" but in reality are among the best seats in the house. I sat in 121 for the Police concert and aside from the people in the first 10 rows on the floor, I had a better view than anyone in the arena. You're basically on the side of the stage and very close to the band members. Sections 121 and 116 both start on row 6, so if you're pulling seats in Row 14 you're really on the 8th row. Just thought I'd pass that along - these are great seats that are coming up - way better than anything that's been available lately. I have New Orleans Hornets season tickets in both of these sections because they're the most price-efficient.

SETLIST FOR 2009 USA Tour?
I hate the way they've abandoned X & Y. It's a fine album. Talk and White Shadows are 2 of the best songs from that album and they're really missing. I consider them the "Even Better Than the Real Thing" and "Until the End of the World" of their repertoires. Not as popular as "One" or "Mysterious Ways", but more fun live. I'm sick of "Speed of Sound" and if it weren't for "Fix You"'s ties to Katrina era New Orleans I'd be sick of that too.

Need good Coldplay tickets? KEEP TRYING TM.com
I tried all day and kept getting the same seats. I called our ticketmaster number and talked to a live rep and she said the seats I was seeing on TM.com were the only seats left. Then just now I tried 3 more times and I got progressively better seats! I wound up buying 2 seats in Section 112 row 18 of the New Orleans Arena for only $97 each plus a nominal club lounge fee. These are great seats! So don't give up - keep trying gang. Good luck!

If anybody has an extra pair of good seats for a huge Coldplay fan I'd be happy to grab them - even a bit over face. The fact that I'd now have to pay $200 to get decent seats pisses me off - there was no buzz locally about this concert so I just had no idea about it. I'm a huge Coldplay fan - you can quiz me if you want. I've seen them twice since VLV came out and I had incredible seats both times.

Advice on getting good tickets for New Orleans?
I've seen Coldplay live twice in the past year - last August in Washington and then a few months later in Miami area. I guess because of this I just figured their tour was over for the most part. Then last night I was at a basketball game in New Orleans and an advertisement for the upcoming Coldplay concert comes on the jumbotron during a timeout. I was stunned for the following reasons: A) New Orleans NEVER gets good concerts. The biggest concert we get is some crappy band like Nickelback or Kid Rock. Bleh. B) I didn't hear anything about it, and the good tickets are already gone. I still can't believe that I didn't hear anything about the coldplay concert in my hometown, and I feel so offended that I missed out on great seats. I am here asking for advice - in your experience do good tickets ever pop up on eBay for close to face value? Right now everybody wants $300 a ticket on eBay and Stubhub which is a joke with this economy. Top notch U2 tickets aren't even going for close to that. The true market value is probably only $100 to $130 for Coldplay floor tickets. Anybody think that I will have chances to get great floor seats for this at some point?
