Yes. That's how I got started with photographing. I edited other people's pictures and now I'm taking my own. I tried reading that photoshop guide, I think I read two pages and then I was lost. I learn by trying. :P

I'm using my dad's one for more serious stuff but I own a digital camera, that is mine and only MINE. And digital ones aren't really expensive.
