  1. Well worth it to download Kaycee's recording of the Winnipeg concert from DIME. I grabbed it last night and it is FANTASTIC! Looking forward to DVD 2.
  2. Wow. I wonder if I saw the same show as everyone else! The consensus seems to be that Alpine Valley was the best and loudest crowd of the tour. Possibly, but not from where I was sitting. I guess I should have ditched the lawn tickets and spent extra when pit tickets came on sale. Having already seen them twice on this tour I opted not to. Wrong choice. This poor bastard was stuck on the lawn just to the side of the beer sales so I was center on the lawn. I hadn't been to the venue before but was warned that if you are on the lawn the volume is far too low at the sides. But, it was dreadfully quiet in the center too. I'm surprised that Alpine Valley hasn't figured out a way to boost the sound for those in that last half of the lawn. The crowd in our area was apathetic. Most talked during the show (few were singing) and with the low volume you could clearly hear everyone around us. And when the rain fell (oh I loved it! It was great!) most grumbled rather than embracing the wonderful atmosphere and the coincidence of the lyrics. With five or six songs left in the set we wandered down the lawn as far as we could manage before the security check point for pit and seat tickets. The atmospere was better but still surprisingly subdued. At least the sound was better. Have to say that while I enjoyed the concert (really I did! Really!) the venue needs some work. Vending prices are out of this world and while I can see paying these amounts in a Madison Square Gardens, AV is not New York City. Getting out of the parking lot was a nightmare. We were in the yellow lot (why wouldn't we be!) and it was a 3 hour commute back to Milwaukee. 90 mins of cars completely stationary. (And the hardest part was getting out of the parking lot. It was the hardest part. Oh oh oh!) Hahahaha. We had a great crew of people and met a few folks in lines and around us. Lots of fun but a bit disappointed with the lack of singing in the back. That's it! I've resolved to only buy top rate tickets for now on. Oh well. The Winnipeg and Minneapolis shows completely blew me away. not every show can be a record setting experience!
  3. Tickets still available in the general admission pit and also in the 200 section. It pisses me off that when I bought tickets on the first day they were released that the best I could get were GA lawn. The people that run the ticket sellers are complete crooks and unfair to the fans. I understand that certain sections will become available for sale on the day of a concert once the stage and equipment are in place but this is ridiculous. Many, many tickets have been held back.
  4. That was me. Glad to entertain the masses. My life goal is to claim The Blue Danube from Stanley Kubrick and make it my own. -
  5. Between 11 and 11:30 I would think. Sorry. I didn't put any energy into finding out when it was done. Friday's setlist is here: http://wiki.coldplaying.com/index.php/12_June_2009:_Wells_Fargo_Arena%2C_Des_Moines%2C_IA%2C_USA There may be info about start and end times.
  6. I'll try to answer a couple of questions: Start times (and jeez I hope I'm right!) 7:00 Howling Bells 7:45 Snow Patrol 9:00 Coldplay (This is based on start times reported at the San Antonio show last week.) Cameras: All tickets say "No Cameras". What they mean is "no professional cameras". If you bring in a smallish point and shoot digital that you could slide into your front pocket then no problem. If you try to bring in an SLR camera then expect problems. Also, some security staff will confiscate cameras/cell phones if you shoot video. The guy beside me received a warning at the Oasis concert last summer. 30 minutes later he was shooting again and the security guy took away his camera. He begged him to give it back and they settled out of court after the dude agreed to erase all the video and show the security guy that he had done so. This seems to be problematic on the floor. From my experience you won't have any issue with this from the stands.
  7. Looks like you are kicking off a great week of concerts! I thought I was doing well with Minneapolis last fall, Winnipeg next week, and Alpine Valley in July. This is one heck of a vacation. You should <touch wood> enjoy a great stretch of weather across Western Canada next week. We've had a crappy spring but the weatherman promises to treat us to sunny skies and 25+ temps all next week. Not sure of your pre-concert plans but there's a nice (though a bit corporate and inauthentic) pub across from the venue called Tavern United. They have a roof top patio -- ask if you don't see how to get there....it's a bit hidden from the inside the main bar -- that should be a glorious place for a few drinks in the sun on Monday afternoon. Enjoy your time in our fair city.
  8. According to those who attended last night's show in Texas: Howling Bells at 7 Snow Patrol at 7:45 Coldplay at 9:00 Once they added Howling Bells to the openers they pushed ahead the start time to 7 from 7:30.
  9. I waded through the minute by minute updates last night and came up with the following: Howling Bells 7:04 start Snow Patrol 7:46 Coldplay 9:02 For those folks there last night......is this accurate?? I don't need it to the minute but I'm frantically trying to sort out the start times so that I don't miss anything on Monday night. Thanks!
  10. Okay, Texas. Help me out! Could someone please take note of the start times for all three bands tonight and report back tomorrow morning?? I'm trying to estimate/sort out the various start times for the Winnipeg show next week. Thanks a bunch!
  11. Right now they're advertising: Door - 6PM Show - 7PM And that was brought forward from 7:30 after Howling Bells was announced in addition to Snow Patrol. I'll try contacting the MTS Centre but they usually don't release any info until the day of the event. Just trying to find out what others have found for the same line-up. Can anyone who saw the show in New Orleans last night confirm the start times??? Thanks!
  12. Just a few days until the big show in Winnipeg. Based on the start times for the previous few shows in Cincinatti, Nashville and others, and knowing that both Howling Bells and Snow Patrol are playing, what are the start times for each of the three bands? Thanks.
