you are right of course. its not 240 elements long. i was also looking at my plans to analyse them and the multistep analysis might cause trouble with too much data and my timescale. hehe. and thanks, the company is already going well, and going full time as soon as I finish uni. - I wanted to study re: companys rather than music but turned out lots of previous study in companies (although focussed on e-commerce) and very little on music artists. None of its kind in social media yet either. So quite exciting. :D fun to discuss it actually.

:) The study is of great interest to me because I am setting up my own company consulting for bands / brands and companies about social media and website function they could employ. I realise in hindsight that the questionnaire could have been heaps better and bigger (but then again didn't want to scare people off too much). Yeah I have separated in my research between communities set up by fan and set up by bands/artists themselves. Quite surprising the amount of artists i am looking at that don't own or control their youtube channel. (though waiting to see if this correlates and is just warners/universal) To be honest I picked the artists myself because of elements of their portfolio of social media that I liked (for example the exhibition room on cp mainsite is a fantastic way of getting return hits daily)

Hey thanks for everyone that has done this for me. I am hoping to use some variance indices and to test the validity of my hypotheses with partial least squares and ordinal least squares. from there will look at the reliability again, by bootstrapping (resampling) the data because they are such small datasets. I have been advised to use a seven-point likert-type scale with those scale poles from my dissertation tutor and the foundations of other studies studying the effects of flow in websites. (allowing me to compare to previous studies more fully) The use of the information is to illustrate some qualitative case studies with consumers/fans response and whether social media is now part of the expected music product rather than just an augmentation. I am using 'flow theory' which has been used by some theorists to judge how immersed you become in an activity, and whether this has a negative or positive impact on loyalty and how likely you are to recommend the sites based on the positive feelings generated from 'engaging' and 'becoming immersed'. In fact having started this survey I have realised I should probably have asked more behavioural questions to understand the motivation behind joining/participation social media / communities of this nature. I am conducting 4 in depth case studies of separate band websites and social media which will be supplemented with the information gleaned from these questionnaires. So i wanted them to be very separate entities and not to confuse the survey with any other artists. I am also conducting some rigorous research of over 50 artists [best selling global artists according to IFPI] websites gauging quantitatively the level of 'customer engagement' based on other previous research. They are going to be used as a benchmark for placing the four chosen artists within the engagement profile. Feel free to email me if you have any more questions or if I can clarify anything.
