Viva La Vida Medley (UPDATED: The March on Violet Hill))
Haha you really want that Lover's in Japan track redone huh? Well I can't keep refusing. I'm busy in the middle of a new (and exciting) project but I promise I will get to it and you'll be the first to know :) In the meantime, here's an mp3 of March on Violet Hill to download, if anyone's interested: For the feedback and enthusiasm, I can't thank you enough guys. Really give a guy who keeps getting knocked back in this industry the spirit to get up, dust off and try again. One day....

Fan Made 'DLIBYH' Music Video
Fantastic; the song to me comes at a crucial point in the album that is about redemption and a kind of fearless optimism in life; new beginnings and hope. The video highlights it in their career; where they came from, what they endured, and ultimately, the risks they took and were reborn. Away with the melancholy and dark and suddenly new colour and life and vibrancy. Away with the more sterile shows and suddenly explosive and confident stadium presence. Its a great video and you can tell all the care that went into the details (love how it begins with Yellow in the dark and ends with Yellow in the sunrise). I'll be watching it more than once! :)

Viva La Vida Medley (UPDATED: The March on Violet Hill))
Thanks for the feedback! Check the original post for an update (finally!) :) As well, there is no full version of Lovers in Japan, that is everything recorded there. I am looking to separate the tracks and release them as free mp3's but I'd have to remaster it (since I've finally learned how to master properly). And I appreciate the comments Jilly; a few kind words go a long way. Thank you :) I hope you all like the newest chapter!

Viva La Vida Medley (UPDATED: The March on Violet Hill))
Haha so many emoticons.... I appreciate the feedback, good and bad and this is very detailed. Thank you Mylo! :) Once its completed, send me an email and i will happily send you whichever bits you'd like (although not extended, its a bit more complicated than copy/paste). And I don't want to give away what's coming but if you're ticking them off, there's some big ones on their way!

Viva La Vida Medley (UPDATED: The March on Violet Hill))
Haha no I haven't disappeared, I've been hard at work on the second part and its done as of an hour ago (finally!). Its publishing to YouTube as we speak so once its up (3-4 hours for HD) I will come back and update this thread with the link. I have always had the first, third and fourth parts of this medley planned and a lot finished but the second part was an undertaking because it was fitting in the songs from that era without disrupting the flow and story I was going for. On top of that, there was two types of feedback from here and other sites: ditch the vocals and work on the vocals. I began to rework the whole piece to remove the vocals as, let's face it, I'm not very good (I've only just started vocal training recently with a long way to go) and it began to get very confusing, convoluted and un-Coldplay. And I realized I was moving away from what I was originally trying to do: find my strengths and work on my weaknesses. I will definitely release an instrumental when all's said and done but until then, here's another beta that will be corrected with feedback. On a side note, thank you so much Coldplaying fans. You really are a loyal and generous community and I appreciate you giving this a chance :) (Aaaaaand (if you are looking forward to it) it is much in the style of the first one but this one will be more for the dedicated Coldplay and Viva La Vida fans. Trust me on that). PS MyloLaVida - It won't be so long for the next part as it's mostly done and if you thought the first chapter was cinematic....you haven't heard anything yet ;)

Viva La Vida Medley (UPDATED: The March on Violet Hill))
Thank you very much guys, your words go a long way. More than you know. I'm happy to hear you appreciate what went into it as a musician and I'd love to talk about a collab once its all done and the dust settles. One thing I would say to you is yeah the industry is all about Pro Tools for recordings but don't count out Logic. There is some amazing things that program can do once you begin to understand it. And as for putting it on an ipod, I'm honoured of course and I won't stop you (and I did get permission from Viva La Vida's publisher Universal) but I'd suggest waiting as this isn't a final version. There's a bit more fixing to do with the levels, clearing up the sound and redoing some elements. It won't be longer now, though. I promise :)

Viva La Vida Medley (UPDATED: The March on Violet Hill))
Thank you for the feedback! Didn't expect to get so man hits so quickly... Although I appreciate how kindly you're wording it, I'm not even remotely offended about anyone not liking my vocals. Songwriting is my heart and soul; this is merely just to see what I am good at, what needs work, and what needs axing. So long as you're honest, I've got nothing but love for ya :) To answer a few points, its a 4 part series (Violet Hill, Life in Technicolor, Viva...I haven't forgotten the big ones) and there's more work to do but everything is structured around vocals in certain areas and not in others. Once its done though, I'm happy to release an instrumental although I'd have to shorten some parts up (music underneath the singing tends to be repetitive). But when you're at near 25 min total, any shortening is good. And I might just leave the vocal parts out or replace them with strings or piano. What do you think? As for the Apparatjik reference I'm surprised you caught it ;) I wanted to make something easily accessible to casual Coldplay fans but also dense in their world to appeal to the more hardcore Coldplay fans. There's even a Yellow reference in there somewhere.... For the different effects on vocals, its more towards learning how to mix different vocal effects (crunching guitar amps, synced reverb/delays, soft compressions, etc). Maybe I'm leaning on them too heavily though. Thanks for the opinion! But honestly dude (dreamorlife), if this is something you've always wanted to do, do it! No more waiting, no more 'I'm not good enough yet'. There's no point testing the cliff's edge: run and jump shouting and whether or not you fly or fall, it'll be a hell of ride. Aaaaaand if there's any way I can help that I can manage, I'll try ;) Finally, filiprasmusson, thank you so much. It means so much more to me because your avatar looks blown away and I like to think this is why :) And Bucket for a Crown, lovely song....RIP

Viva La Vida Medley (UPDATED: The March on Violet Hill))
Exactly the kind of feedback I'm looking for. Thank you! That's an interesting idea to swap out all my vocals for Chris' originals. The idea was to originally try to recreate and rearrange everything on my own (vocals, strings, drums, bass, guitar, piano, enoxifying, etc.) but once all 4 parts are finished, and if his original mastered singing is in the right key and tempo, I'd certainly swap it out and make a more 'official' version. I appreciate you taking the time to listen and comment! Thank you :)

Viva La Vida Medley (UPDATED: The March on Violet Hill))
UPDATE: Hey Coldplaying! Chapter 3 at last :) ------------------------ Hi guys! Its been a long time since an update from me on this Medley project. As you might remember, this is a project I've started in order to help me get more practice at arranging, composing, performing and mixing and, as this is a prototype to an official version, I've been looking for feedback to make changes. Well, I got a tremendous amount of feedback since I've uploaded the vids to YouTube and I've taken time away to work on other projects, work in studios and take some lessons. Long story short (and thanks to a helpful reminder from TechnicolorMX), I'm going to be working on part 3 this month. Until its ready, here's an outtake that didn't quite make the third chapter but it was interesting enough to hold on to. Thanks for taking the time to listen as always! :) ------------------------ Part 2: ------------------------ Hi everyone! I'm a huge Coldplay fan and have dedicated the last few weeks to creating a medley for my favourite album, Viva La Vida. I'm looking for as much feedback to help fine tune it before releasing it properly and I figured if there was anywhere that might appreciate it (or hate it, in case I butchered it) it would be here. Any (ahem, constructive) feedback is welcome and wanted! I hope you like it! - Raj
