[31-Dec-2012] Coldplay @ Barclays Center, New York, NY, USA
Apparently the DJ is a DJ to the stars and did the DNC convention. My sections was definitely more Coldplay fans. A lot of people were checking out during Jay's set. From DJ Cassidy's Bio Cassidy’s personal clientele quickly grew and now reads like a who’s who of renowned figures. That list includes President Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, Jay-Z, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Russell Simmons, Anna Wintour, Patricia Field, Tommy Hilfiger, LeBron James, Hugh Hefner, Tina Turner, Tyler Perry, Jermaine Dupri, Alicia Keys, Swizz Beatz, Nas, Mary J. Blige, Pharrell Williams, L.A. Reid, LL Cool J, and Naomi Campbell. Performing for such an elite roster, Cassidy has deejayed some of the most major events of his time. These events include Oprah Winfrey’s New Years Eve celebration in South Africa to celebrate the opening of her Leadership Academy For Girls, Jay-Z and Beyonce’s New York home wedding, Naomi’s Campbell’s 36th birthday in Dubai and 40th birthday in Cannes, Jennifer Lopez’s wedding to Cris Judd and 40th birthday hosted by Marc Anthony, L.A. Reid’s fiftieth birthday in New York City, Tina Turner’s seventieth birthday in Zurich, Kim Kardashian’s wedding to Kris Humphries, The Black Eyed Peas’ Concert 4 NYC in front of 60,000 people on Central Park’s Great Lawn, Anna Wintour’s annual Met Gala after-parties, and a multitude of events for The President of the United States. In 2009, DJ Cassidy was called on to perform for President Barack Obama. In addition to performing at the Inaugural Ball, Cassidy programmed music for all the evening’s festivities. Later that year, Cassidy deejayed the Democratic National Committee’s “Welcome Home To Chicago” event for The President. In 2011, Cassidy performed alongside Stevie Wonder at President Obama’s fiftieth birthday party in The White House. Then, in September 2012, Cassidy acted as the musical supervisor and one-man-house-band for the Democratic National Convention; he was the first deejay to ever take on those roles. During the President’s 2012 campaign, Barack Obama’s campaign office enlisted Cassidy to help create and lead DJs For Obama, a group of renowned deejays who would contribute to the re-election of The President. In addition to his long list of celebrity clients, DJ Cassidy routinely performs for many fashion, music, and media companies including Louis Vuitton, Victoria’s Secret, Hugo Boss, Tory Burch, Nike, The Gap, Lacoste, Audemars Piguet, Lorraine Schwartz, MTV, BET, Sony, Warner Music Group, Universal Music Group, Beats By Dre, Sports Illustrated, and Vogue. Cassidy also performs regularly at the hottest nightclubs around the world from New York to Los Angeles, Miami to Las Vegas, St. Barths to St. Tropez, Paris to Sydney, Tokyo to Dubai. http://www.djcassidy.com/bio/

I was surprised that there weren't more collaborative efforts been Jay and Coldplay. For example, Jay and Chris did a song together called "beach chair" and they didn't play it at the show. It really was two separate concerts. Correct me if I am wrong but they did more collaborative stuff for NYE 2010.

There was smoking in my section too but I expected it because it was also a Jay-Z concert and i've been to his shows before and people smoke but interestingly the smokers were the hipsters. Not too much cursing though. Definitely a drunker crowd but we really did get value for having NYE in NYC. Despite all that I still had a blast at the show and I am sure some sections weren't as rowdy as ours were. I was afraid to drink too much because I knew i'd be dancing and singing all night and I was afraid of dehydration. Water was my best friend at this and the blue marble concretion (concrete ice cream) of yummy goodness to keep my energy up.

Also not sure if this was mentioned but the show didn't end until about 1:30am give or take a few minutes. I definitely got my monies worth out if it.

It wasn't too bad price-wise. My seats for $99 face and it came to $117 with the fees for the upper level. It was only a bit more expensive than the show on the 30th and you got two 1.5 hr sets and a dj for a half hour in the middle. If there was one thing I would change, it was the obnoxious drunk hipsters who were wandering around like zombies preventing me from quickly getting to and from the bathroom on the upper level. And that guy with the warby parker glasses blocking the stairs with your "dancing", yeah, you weren't cool. Elsewise, I had a ton of fun. I have only stupid videos to show for all of it but it was much better live than anything my phone could create.

I am pretty sure there is a bus through NJ transit that will get you to where you got to go. Try Hopstop.com but it will be a lengthy trip.

If you do the cab option, you'd want to take a train that will get you near the Holland Tunnel or near Canal street. if you do the bus route, you'd want to get to port authority using the Q or 2 Train. The N is a super local option to either. I think the Q is your best bet regardless of which way and you could also get a cab from Port Authority if you don't want to risk being on Canal street late.

You can still take the PATH to the concert and if you get out after 10pm take the train to a part of the City across from Journal SQ and hail a cab or take a bus from port authority.

Looks like limited 12/30 service still but things start up again on NYE. Also I wouldn't rely on the Cortland Steet idea because the PATH isn't going to WTC. http://www.panynj.gov/path/ PATH New Year's Eve Day Service 5 a.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 - 10 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 Hoboken to 33 Street Journal Square to 33 Street Newark-Penn Station to World Trade Center PATH New Year's Eve Overnight Service 10 p.m. Monday, December 31, 2012 Around-the-clock until 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2013 Hoboken to 33 Street Newark to 33 Street No service to or from Exchange Place or World Trade Center PATH New Year's Day Service 5 a.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2013 - 10 p.m. Tuesday, January 1, 2013 Hoboken to 33 Street Journal Square to 33 Street Newark-Penn Station to World Trade Center

I walked in at the end of the first opening act at Izod center in August without problem. Can't speak on the parking since I don't need to drive to the concert.
