busybeeburns
As AFC Totton prepare to record their FA Vase final song tonight, the Daily Echo can exclusively reveal that one team member has a secret rock star past. In his youth, goalkeeper Iain Brunnschweiler played guitar alongside Coldplay drummer Will Champion in a little-known Southampton band called Fat Hamster." Brunnschweiler recalled: "We were quite young when we first knew each other, about 12 or 13 years old, and we used to go to the youth activities group at Highfield Church. Will lived in Portswood and I lived in Glen Eyre and we got together with another lad, David Milln, to form a three-piece band. I played the guitar and tried to sing, but I was absolute rubbish!" While former Hampshire Cricket wicket-keeper Brunnschweiler went on to excel in sport, his old bandmates followed musical careers. "Will went off to university at UCL in London and met up with Chris Martin and the others to form Coldplay and David's now a successful drum and bass DJ called DJ Sciphi," said the 27-year-old, who combines his Totton goalkeeping duties with the role of assistant coach at Hampshire Cricket. He laughed: "Out of the trio, you've got one who plays in one of the world's biggest bands, one who's had some singles out as a DJ and me who's got nothing to do with music any more.Recording a song for Wembley with Totton is the height of my musical career!" http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/display.var.1335574.0..php

busybeeburns
Totton on song for Wembley THEY are more renowned for their ability on a football pitch than in the recording studio. But AFC Totton's FA Vase heroes got themselves in the cup final spirit last night by putting the finishing touches to a song which they hope their fans will be singing all the way to new Wembley and beyond. In honour of Stuart Ritchie's young side reaching next month's FA Vase final, songwriter and Totton fan Sean McGlead, 40, penned lyrics to a song with the same name as the Daily Echo's supporting campaign, "Go Totton Go". Last week, Sean and his band, The Tottoners, recorded the old style rock and roll track, sung to the tune of Chuck Berry's Johnny B Good, To add the final authentic cup final song touch, Totton's squad joined the four-man band at their Portswood studio to record the catchy chorus. Sean New, Totton's assistant manager, said: "The song sounds really outstanding. These lads have really made an effort and they asked our boys to record the chorus. We can't sing but even we couldn't mess this up!" Sean McGlead, who watches Totton when his first love Saints are not playing, added: "We are really chuffed to get the players involved." The father-of-four, from The Paddocks, in Calmore had initially planned to get just 100 copies made of the song. The interest which the song has generated since Sean first floated the idea has been so big that it could be played in front of 80,000 people! AFC Totton were so impressed with the final product that they have decided to adopt it as their cup final anthem. So with FA officials hoping the final could attract 80,000 fans to the new Wembley stadium, The Tottoners could have quite an audience for their debut hit. Storeman Sean said: "Initially we thought it was just going to be a bit of fun and we will get about 100 CDs done and just give them to the pubs and clubs to stick in their juke boxes to play in the lead up to the final. We are going to print off more CDs." To get your copy of Go Totton Go contact Sean on 07757 602 931.
