chuck kottke
hahahha I was searching if there was a thread for teeth already and found this one. Awww bless us! Anyway, my teeth hurt :disappointed: Or not really teeth, but the gum around them. They've all got sore during the last few days.. MAYBE I HAVE AN INFECTION AND WILL LOSE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF MY TEETH! :wreck: Nah. Or then i've just been eating too much sweet recently. [random info] I do brush my teeth twice a day and floss at least once in 2 days! [/random info] Do your teeth hurt?? Tell me the truth people!!! Yes, occasionally! (I've got a chipped tooth, so the nerves are sensitive being so close to the surface..:() - but most days, its' fine! What I discovered from a friend who happens to be a dentist, is that if you have teeth that are pretty tight together (most of have this problem),then the space between (below the crowns) can get little bits of food caught in them. So, if you eat sweets, even on occasion (and we all do this at times - be honest!:P) a bit of the sugary goo gets caught between, and then the gums react to the foreign matter, and start to swell and hurt in that area. Now, I get the same problem when I eat chicken or celery, because bits of those foods lodge between the teeth as well, and it's the same. Cure: Don't Panic!;) It's easy - just floss it out! Brush, and rinse after, and it might take a little while for the swelling to go down, but then you're back to normal. If it persists, it might be an infection & cavity, but generally, unless the pain is deep and persistent, it's probably not. (and yes, the first time it happened, I panicked too!!:laugh3:) But yea, good to get em' checked out too!;) Happy Flossing!:D PS- I found that if you do have the start of a cavity, you can sometimes brush vigorously enough to remove the bad bits, and I've actually had the enamel seal up, safe and sound. The dentist was quite surprised to see this, and you have to be careful not to hurt your gums in the process..

zeoir
I have braces. Need I say more about tooth pain? ah, braces. I actually haven't ever got "proper" braces but anyway, i've had some stuff going or for a tooth or two at the same time. and yes, it aches. The most annoying part is that it irritates the skin too ARGH! thank god i don't probably have to use them anymore although the other one of my front teeth is crazy  Yes, occasionally! Especially if i eat meat, pop corn etc. The food just gets stuck there and it's SO hard to get out. Not even toothpicks work every time bah. Anyway, i'll just keep on brushing and flossing and chewing xylitol (yay) gum as often as possible and hope it'll get better soon.
