Ive been using tab to learn guitar along with lessons, and should i be full of guilt?

Hey just ignore this thread, I was just getting sensitive.

Oh that's so funny because I was halfway into writing my response. :p

 

Yeah..there's no shame in using tabs. I know I did and still do. If guitar's your first instrument, then I think tab is the easiest system to work with.

 

That said, you should still try to understand and make the most of tabs - and you'll know when you've got it. Someone might say "7th fret on the D string" and you'll know right away, "oh that's an A!" What I'm trying to say is tab isn't just straight up memorization; there's still a sense of understanding that you should try to get. For example, you should look at different barre chords and be able to say "oh they're all the same shape."

Hey thanks Moses, I was just getting sensitive because of some guy's opinion on YouTube. But I got you though man, you guys at Coldplaying increased my understanding of guitar by 40%.
