Lotus Harford
This is way, way off topic but anyway, I went to my doctor earlier for a check up and I was surprised when I saw that they've gone digital. LOL I didn't even know that there are now Electronic Health Records. So I was wondering how popular this kind of software is. Does your doctor use this kind of system too? I think this way's better since they can access lots of medical data easily. Don't you think so? Though there's of course the risk of getting hacked. What do you think of this step from old-fashioned to digital? Do you think this way is better? What, in your opinion, are the pros and cons? fruitfulscare
What do you think of this step from old-fashioned to digital? Do you think this way is better? What, in your opinion, are the pros and cons? My pediatrician uses EHR but my old school OB-Gyn still uses cards to document her patient’s records. One advantage of shifting to EHR is, it provides precise, up-to-date, and complete information about patients at the point of care permitting immediate access to patient records for faster and efficient care. However, the disadvantage is, there could be error in data entry (human intervention) that may caused wrong diagnosis.
Bryanne Hatheway
EHR has been used by many practitioners for quite a long time. Although, they do not openly discuss its advantages, due to the fact that they deal with personal and confidential files, I think it was really a huge help in the field. Pros, as what I had in mind is basically the same to what every automation's goal. And the CONS? practically, too much reliance on the system. I think it's great that my doctor had these upgrades. I think even the system that his staff uses is upgraded. I was asked to enter my data and I saw that they were using some sort of software. I looked it up on the internet and saw that they were (Removed by Sparky). I observed that their workflow is smoother and organized now. Anyway, what happens when there's a problem with the system. How do they access the entered information?
fruitfulscare
Add to that disadvantage the risk of getting hacked. Yup that is another factor to consider, safety and security of the data.
