COLDPLAY PREMIERE EPIC 'HIGHER POWER' MUSIC VIDEO

Coldplay have today premiered the jaw-dropping, intergalactic video for their recent single, Higher Power. The video is available to watch on YouTube at https://youtu.be/3lfnR7OhZY8 now.

Helmed by superstar director Dave Meyers - whose credits include Taylor Swift, Travis Scott and Billie Eilish - the Higher Power video sees the band exploring a colorful trash planet named Kaotica, whose alien language (Kaotican) features in the video and across the Higher Power artwork.

Kaotica is populated by robot dogs, giant holograms and a street-gang of dancing aliens, performed by Seoul’s Ambiguous Dance Company.

Said Meyers: “The video is a metaphor for how, right now, we all feel alienated, far removed from our world, almost like we’re on an alien planet. And ultimately we find love in the streets and that euphoria shoots us off into the stratosphere of our own energy and higher power.”

Since its release last month, Higher Power has already been streamed more than 75 million times and topped sales and airplay charts around the world.

The video made its global broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU and across MTV’s global network of channels, as well as on the ViacomCBS Times Square billboard.

This also marks Coldplay's first video shot and published in UHD. Yellow was previously re-scanned in UHD and uploaded for the 20th anniversary of Parachutes. However, it seems to have reverted back to 720p.

    • As for their label pushing the album hard, I need people here to remember that being a musician is still a job. Coldplay have a brand to maintain and so does their partners. Moon Music was the only #1 record from Atlantic in the US this year.
    • The promotion for All My Love clashed with Christmas so it makes sense to market the two songs together, the band are not going to release another holiday track just for the sake of narrative when they already have a classic rising every year on the charts. Also, I don't see what you mean about Full Moon not being good enough, Ariana Grande's deluxe was just live versions and Charli XCX had remixes, which this fandom famously hates... Surely you're not talking about Taylor Swift and her extra contents right? As a swiftie myself, the only thing The Anthology did was making TTPD a bloated mess.
    • It was a surprise drop but it still had an announcement after the songs came out, this one didn't and it's only on Tidal.
    • It was inspired a lot by Coldplay songs like Coloratura and Rainbow, there's a song that kind of like Arabesque, that sort of thing. Brian Eno, Mew, Arcade Fire, Sigur Ros, a dash of Swans, you could probably describe it better than I could. It took me a year to make. It was inspired by the loss of my first child and the birth of my second one. Very emotional but hopefully not too much. It would mean a lot if you could give it a listen and let me know what you think.  https://untitled.stream/library/project/Bzu0XAymJ0llgA1wPzcDA?fbclid=IwY2xjawHA1ItleHRuA2FlbQIxMAABHbShVmy49gn5CYFDUObxWTag1eJANJu6nZs4wE7EJd3OQWgZi8nzSl4Weg_aem_XzkwX-tdUTmalwNRhs_h4g If you wanna support me on bandcamp it's cameramenband.bandcamp.com (the album is officially released early January)
