Kasabian's Tom Meighan compares Coldplay and Oasis...

chrismartin2008a.jpgIt's no surprise that Kasabian's frontman Tom Meighan is particularly outspoken, given the swagger with which he and his band perform, according to Spinner today. Some might mistake this for arrogance.

He's now spoken out against Chris Martin and Coldplay and, surprise surprise, the criticism is essentially that they're pretty dull. (Never have guessed, eh!). He told Q Magazine, "Chris Martin is all right if you're 35 and feeling sad that your mortgage repayments have gone up."

Surely this is something infinitely more hurtful to 35-year-olds whose mortgage repayments have gone up than to Chris Martin?

kasabian-200a-spinner-module-nme-2010-awards.jpeg.jpgThe quotes are taken from an interview with the magazine, who have just named their 'Greatest Frontmen Of All Time.' Former Oasis lead singer Liam Gallagher took the readers' accolade, ahead of U2's Bono, Queen's Freddie Mercury, bitter rivals Blur's Damon Albarn and the aforementioned Chris Martin. Meighan [pictured] just made it into the Top 20, at number 19. Of Gallagher, he said, "Liam is the voice you want if you're feeling young and free and up for anything. In terms of honesty, looks and attitude there's no one left."

Which just leaves it up to our Liam himself to have his say on the matter, who took no sides in the big debate for best frontman. He said: "There is Elvis and me. I couldn't say which of the two is best."

He also said his choice for greatest lead man would be his brother, Noel, who last night played his first solo show. We're not sure at which point during the interview Liam stopped being serious.
