It was supposed to be the year of the one-two punch. And it still may be. But Osheaga Music and Arts Festival director Nick Farkas was thrown for a loop last week when he got word that one of two high-profile headliners for the fest’s fourth edition (Saturday and Sunday at Jean Drapeau Park) was pulling out, writes The Gazette (Montreal).   Beastie Boys member Adam Yauch was diagnosed with a cancerous tumour in his salivary gland, leading the band to cancel all upcoming tour dates, including Sun

Coldplay have been around long enough to know how to work an arena better than Jason Spezza, reports the Ottawa Sun.   But last night, the current kings of British pop brought a bagful of tricks to their gig at Scotiabank Place that only the very best can. The band that might be the next U2 -- singer Chris Martin, drummer Will Champion, guitarist Jonny Buckland and bassist Guy Berryman -- launched their North American tour here last night and judging by their show, few bands even come close to C

Gwyneth Paltrow has said she has no intention of leaving London and heading back to the United States.   The Oscar-winning actress, who is married to the Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, said she considered herself more European these days.   "I've always been drawn to Europe. America is such a young country, with an adolescent swagger about it," she told the Toronto Globe and Mail. "But I feel that I have a more European sensibility, a greater respect for the multicultural nature of the globe.

Hollywood's Gwyneth Paltrowhas hinted she would like to have a boob job after suffering the effects of breast feeding.   The 33-year-old mother of daughter Apple, nearly two, and wife of Coldplay star Chris Martin, claims she will have to find some way of perking things up again, especially after giving birth to her second child, expected in May 2006.   She says, "I think women who have breast-fed will understand what I'm saying - that if you get a boob-job, it's more reconstructive surgery. Gwyneth Paltrow [pictured with Chris Martin] has denied reports that she criticised Britain and that she had plans to return to the US.   According to hollywood.com, Paltrow insists she loves living in London. She had moved there when she began dating Chris Martin in 2002.   Last week Paltrow had reportedly said in an interview: "My husband thinks I'm way too obsessed with cleanliness and germs. I'm just like, 'The street is filthy, could we take off our shoes before we come into the house?' He

Despite major differences of opinion, the marriage between Chris Martin and Gwyneth Paltrow is thriving -- and that's because the stubborn musician wins most of their battles.   When Gwen talked of their daughter, Apple, becoming an actor, Chris said a firm "No, over my dead body." It was a similar negative when she hinted living in New York would be nice. Insiders say he told her, "Sure, you can go back to America, but the baby stays with me." Gwyneth coos: "I love being married to a strong man

Gwyneth Paltrow thrilled fans when she appeared on Oprah Winfrey's daytime chat show yesterday and rapped her husband Chris Martin's pregnancy ode to her.   The Coldplay singer filmed a hilarious short video, as 'The Nappies', and presented to his wife just before she gave birth in May. The lyrics of the personal novelty ditty have been kept under wraps until Gwyneth decided to share them with Oprah on her show.   She rapped, "Sometimes you're happy, sometimes you frown/With your hormones bounci

Chris Martin is disappointed his marriage to movie actress Gwyneth Paltrow has ruined the novelty of meeting Hollywood superstars.   He blames his Oscar-winning wife for making his once showbiz idols seem boring and ordinary.   He says, "After being with Gwyn I've realised everyone is human. We really build people up as if they are from Mars. Hollywood seems as accessible as Mars. When I started meeting celebrities it was depressing because you can't believe in the mythology of people any more."

As reported earlier, Gwyneth Paltrow has broken her husband Chris Martin's computer, almost destroying new Coldplay songs stored on it.   The actress accidentally knocked the computer over at their London home, reportedly causing the outer casing to be badly damaged and rendering it difficult to turn on. A source told the Daily Mirror: "The hinges broke and the screen was hanging off. It wouldn’t turn on. Chris does a lot of work on there and the computer is his baby."   Luckily for the 33-year-

On the eve of her Juno hosting gig, Pamela Anderson took more shots at Prime Minister Stephen Harper, urging him to get a makeover and, on a more serious note, renewed earlier calls to end the East Coast seal hunt.   "When people think of Canadian Club, they should think of a good whisky, not jerks beating pups on the ice," she told a throng of reporters during a news conference late Saturday afternoon.   She appeared far better versed on the seal hunt than on the state of Canadian music, at o

Coldplay are just weeks away from finishing the much anticipated follow up to their 2000 debut 'Parachutes', they have revealed.   The band, who plan to release the album later on this year, have finished recording and are now on the mixing stage of the final tracks, according to Phil Harvey their manager.   On the band's official website, he said: "The recording is all finished so at least we know we've got the songs. Now it's a question of doing the recordings justice by mixing them properly
