The debut album by The Arctic Monkeys sold close to 120,000 copies on its first day of release, figures showed today.   Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not had been estimated to shift 60,000 copies. But the album did almost double that with sales of 118,501, outselling the rest of the top 20 album chart combined and taking the industry by surprise. The Arctic Monkeys and Bjork are the first major acts to be confirmed for this year's Glastonbury music festival.   The Arctic Monkeys will headline the main Pyramid Stage during the event on Michael Eavis' Somerset farm in June. "Most of the line-up's done now," Mr Eavis told BBC 6Music, adding that the "biggest band in the world" had also contacted him about performing, but he denied it was U2 or Coldplay. RECORD OUTFIT EMI is reporting that the sales results for its DRM-free music are better than those with protection.   Since EMI ditched the DRM on iTunes it has seen sales of Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon increase by between 272 and 350 percent. It is too early to tell if this is just a temporary rise as punters replace their old DRM infected tracks with those which are protection free.   However it does look like punters have given the record labels the thumbs up for DRM free music. A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery last Friday at Wells Fargo Arena and two other hold-ups. Darnell Ramey, 24, is charged with three counts of first-degree robbery and a probation violation. He's being held in the Polk County Jail on $125,000 bond. Back in 2002 Ash made headlines with a DIY slasher movie they filmed on a camcorder whilst on tour. Former Verve frontman Richard Ashcroft introduced his upcoming album, "Keys to the World," Wednesday night with a performance at London's Mermaid Theater, supported both by his own band and by the BBC Concert Orchestra. Tickets to Coldplay's 2006 Australian tour has been snapped up in record times after going on sale this morning. Belinda Emmett, wife of Rove McManus from the Australian talk-show Rove Live, died today after losing her long battle with cancer.   Mainly Australian and New Zealanders would be aware of this union.
