Check out coldplay.com for a new blog entry: #42 reports back from the BRITs   Discuss this blog entry in the Coldplay forum here onwards [thanks _Tash]   New Year's Day is often referred to as “guaranteed first hangover of the year”. For the British music industry, I’d hazard a guess that the day after the BRIT Awards sees a hilariously impressive spike in the number of email accounts set to auto-respond with “I’m not in the office today”.   Somewhat disappointingly - or indeed not, I find myse

Obviously, now it's done it seems like it was nothing, but going into it, it felt like there was a lot of potential for trainwreck. We've done a complete lap of the planet in just over a week, a bunch of awards show

Check out coldplay.com for a new blog entry: #42 has no idea who Susan Boyle is   Discuss this blog entry in the Coldplay forum here onwards [thanks Zeya]   Three days off in a row is a phenomenon practically unheard of in the touring world. The fact that we're so unused to the idea of spending this much time away from the show whilst still "on tour" means that the phrases "long time no see" and "what did you do in the break?" are being bandied about with ridiculous regularity at the Pittsburgh

Check out coldplay.com for a new blog entry: #42 finds festivals a bit of a pain in the Arras   Discuss this blog entry in the Coldplay forum here onwards.   So then, festival season is upon us once again. Roadies tend to look forward to festivals like school-kids look forward to exams. A tour like this is a very long-term experience where all of the challenges and snags get worked out and smoothed over with time. Festivals mean taking that huge intricate show that requires a full day to constru

Check out coldplay.com for a new blog entry: In which #42 has a Pulp Fiction moment and meets Steve Jobs   Discuss this blog entry in the Coldplay forum here onwards [thanks Pris & Zeya]   Greetings from scorching Sacramento, folks. It's beyond warm here and we're well into "living in an oven" territory. We arrive in the early evening and do what all good Brits do when confronted by weather warmer than "overcast with regular drizzle" - that is, we walk around pulling at our collars discussin

Check out coldplay.com for a new blog entry: #42 and the two chopper strategy   Discuss this blog entry in the Coldplay forum here onwards [thanks Pris]   It's somewhat reassuring that 15 months into a tour, things are still moving on enough to keep life interesting. The stadium shows are approaching, which means that preparations and disaster avoidance are well under way in all departments. As a little taster, the Los Angeles show is a big outdoor venue. More specifically, The Home Depot Center

As part of Coldplaying's Erasmus boat trip excursion for Coldplay's Christmas Lights video last month, Coldplay roadies Matt McGinn and Miller, along with fifth member Phil Harvey were able to provide some excellent online Q&A to Coldplayers who were on the boat (and some who weren't). In the final installment of our Q&A session, last but not least to answer our questions is popular roadie Miller, who answers questions on soundchecks, online future of Coldplay, instrumentation and much m

"Viva La Vida" is the second song to emerge from forthcoming album "Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends" (June 17), an album that The Sun's Gordon Smart's wrote is "as heavy-going as the Bible but as ultimately as rewarding." But the majesty that is Coldplay couldn't prevent a plague like the massive fire Sunday morning at Universal Studios -- the site of the awards -- and the world appeared unchanged when lead singer Chris Marin sat at the end of the stage to herald the end of the song.

The music industry calls declining CD sales a shift in the market. But what do you expect in a world in which attention spans are short, a song is better than an album, and a ringtone is better than a song? Thankfully, there are still artists who have something to say and refuse to sing in sound bites.   This year, the cadre of old-fashioned troubadours who wanted more than a hit single included icons such as B.B. King, Willie Nelson and Mavis Staples as well as newcomers like the Black Kids and

What have top-selling international rock bands like Coldplay, the Foo Fighters and REM got in common? They are all doing their bit to help save cash-strapped Oldham Rugby Leage Club.   The driving force behind the extraordinary fundraising venture is 41-year-old Graham Lambert. The former Inspiral Carpets’ guitarist read about the Roughyeds’ financial woes in the Advertiser last year and decided to use his new job to help out.   Now working as an events manager for SJM Concerts, Graham is regula
