UNIVERSAL CITY, California — So who was the story at the 16th annual KROQ-FM Almost Acoustic Christmas festival this past weekend?   Perhaps the White Stripes, who had the perfect color scheme for the occasion and whose songs made it into multiple sets (Jack Johnson tossed a few "My Doorbell" verses into "The Horizon Has Been Defeated," while Coldplay's Chris Martin inserted "I'm going to Wichita/ A seven nation army couldn't hold me back" into "Speed of Sound").   Or maybe it was Jack Johnson,

Coldplay's long awaited comeback single 'Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall', takes a sample from Australian 1970s songwriter Peter Allen's single 'I Go To Rio', the band have confirmed on their recordings page for the new single. The track was released in 1976 on Allen's fourth album 'Taught By Experts' and has since been covered by a number of high profile artists, including Peggy Lee. Listen to both tracks together at the Coldplay forum now.   Allen, who died in 1992, enjoyed a successful music ca

Two years after having played in Chile for the first time, Coldplay are attempting to go back to the country to deliver the Viva La Vida tour. However, similar to that of AC/DC and Metallica, they have been denied the use of the national stadium.   This comes just months after more speculation from Latin American sources that successfully predicted the last tour. Chile, Mexico, Brazil and Argentina are likely to be included in any Coldplay itinery, with the possibility of additions such as Perú

Lest anyone have any doubts, romance is still very much on the mind of Coldplay bandleader Chris Martin.   As the English quartet played a rare intimate club gig at Metro Friday night, Martin's wife, actress Gwyneth Paltrow, sat in the balcony, enthusiastically cheering her husband on. He frequently looked up at her -- especially during the hyper-romantic hit "Yellow" -- and she responded by lighting up like a schoolgirl, gazing back adoringly and leaning closer to him every time he turned her w

Coldplay are being lined up for two massive outdoor gigs on the banks of Loch Lomond.   West Dunbartonshire Council is in discussions with promoters about bringing the world-famous band — to Balloch Park on July 2 and 3 next year. The gigs would attract around 80,000 music fans over the weekend and would take place just a fortnight after another supergroup, REM, perform on the Bonnie Banks.   Talks are understood to be at an advanced stage — but the plans could be scuppered by the police. Coldplay are confirmed as performers at the Global Citizen Festival in New York, this September! The band haven't played live since the BBC and NRJ music awards, in December 2014. Chris Martin has billed himself and his band-mates in for the charity concert as a 'last resort', because of other acts, such as Rihanna pulling out of the concert for various reasons. Here's the official line-up, which was rumoured a day before the announcement:     To summarize: Coldplay will perform a short

Coldplay are today reportedly being paid a whopping £1.2million ($2.4million) to play the Summer Sonic festival in Japan later this year.
