They might've tweaked or adjusted the song. I'm just speculating, but it's possible that they collaborated with the intention of making a song for Big Sean's album, but they noticed that it didn't fit the album, and they didn't want to bury the song or some of its pieces, so Coldplay and Big Sean decided to make some adjustments and release it along KEP instead. Even if this didn't happen, I don't know why you think this isn't a possibility. No artist works from a blueprint. A lot of things can happen while composing a song.

Well, the song probably had more rap verses, but the style was more Coldplay oriented, so that's why it didn't fit with his album, and they made it into a Coldplay song. I'm just speculating though lol. If there's still another Big Sean collaboration, then I will be very excited to hear it. Sadly, we don't know anything, and he sounded very ambiguous about incorporating the song into his catalog. My main point was, however, that I don't think the constant delays are a sign of something important going on.

I guess that's why it didn't make the cut. It probably sounded more like a Coldplay ft big sean than Big Sean ft Chris Martin.

Honestly, I just think some of the songs were just completed. They probably were about to finish with the production and announced a date, but then it took longer than expected. My theory is that Miracles (SS) is actually that song that wasn't finished. Didn't they show a picture of Big Sean and Chris at some studio just recently? Supposedly, Big Sean collaborated with Chris in a song for his new album but didn't make the cut because as Big Sean said: "[ I didn't know if it fit]; I didn't want to have stuff that kind of didn't fit or kind of did fit. The song is super-tight. So I'm going to put that out soon or it might be for the next album — I don't know." My guess is that they finally decided to make it a Coldplay song and started working on its production, tweaking the song or finishing details, which caused the delay. Something Just Like This (Tokyo Remix)
There are songs that are over-produced, and when you hear them live, they sound so much better. This was the case for a lot of AHFOD, but not for SJLT lol. I think it was meant to be a studio song, and I hate that it's going to be part of the EP honestly.

For me, collaborations are great with anybody if done correctly.

I don't think it had to do with the development or songwriting of the songs. I remember many fans were mad because he deviated the band from their rustic approach in production. I can't say everybody was against him, but A LOT of fans weren't happy with his involvement. Now, the idea that Eno's involvement with the band has been positive seems like a consensus among the fans.

Hahaha this forum has changed! The last time I was an active user on this website (2013), Brian Eno was the Devil and the one responsible for Coldplay's decline.

Wow! It's been years since the last time I came to this website. I just came to say that IMO "Aliens" is the best Coldplay song since Mylo Xyloto and the most interesting one since "Midnight". On my first listen, I thought the song was odd even though I tend to listen to even more "odd" music like Caribou, Four Tet, or Bjork. The first thing that I noticed was that it sounded like a Radiohead song. The beat reminded me of "15 step" and the way Chris sang his lines reminded me of "Myxomatosis". Since there are few Coldplay songs with this kind of beat or approach in general, I guess I was too judgy or pessimistic about the whole outcome on my first listen. I knew what kind of music I was listening to, so I gave it a few more listens, and yeahh...I really liked it...like really really liked it.
