I use a program called mptrim works great, but if you use the free version you can't edit songs over seven minutes. Only works for mp3 formats though they do offer a wav version. http://www.afterdawn.com/software/audio_software/mp3_tools/mptrim.cfm

I think you didn't get a xvid binary build. When any version of xvid is released it is just source, they don't make a build because of legal reasons. Try downloading a xvid binary build and running it through that. http://www.koepi.org/xvid.shtml

I use a program called BeLight it converts to mp3, wma, ac3, etc. I used it today and worked great. http://corecodec.org/projects/belight/

It's all about the titles. The 360 had one strong title for its launch, CoD2, the rest were mediocre. The Revo will have Metroid Prime 3 and maybe a new Mario title which appears solid. The PS3 will have Unreal Tournament '07 and Metal Gear Solid 4. So what is the best system? The SNES.
