  9. sorry- i could resist trivialising this with a simpsons quote. ;) i think with this it completely depends on what the individuals are looking for in a partner, and whether or not they're compatible at that moment in time. one man may be the most honest and caring thing to grace the earth, but if the woman needs excitement at that point, it's not as much whether or not he's a good boyfriend, but whether or not he's a good boyfriend for her at that time in her life... i believe the 'ideal partner' is a concept which exists and varies throughout each individual...
  10. it's a question of whether he's a STUD where it counts! I'M TALKIN' DOWNTOWN!

lisa simpson : but you do this every year, we ARE used to it!
  15. what about good old stanley donwood :P
  16. the second question: it depends what you mean by 'ultimate happiness'... if you mean an absolute happiness- in which one could not possibly be happier, this is virtually impossible- this could only come if one would not, given the chance, change even the tiniest thing in his/her life. if you mean what we would casually describe as 'true happiness', i guess i could refer to maslow's hierarchy of needs and call it 'self-actualisation'- the obtainment of human wants and needs from the most primitive (food, shelter, comfort), happiness in relationships and human contact, satisfaction of esteem needs, independence, knowledge and appreciation of beauty... reaching a feeling of extreme self-fulfillment... obviously as with all theories like this there are some of dispute it's relevance, but if this is the closest we can come to a definition of 'ultimate happiness' we can draw on it... and i would make a conclusion that this can be, and often is achieved :)
  17. the first question: assuming the people involved are mature enough to claim responsibility for their actions, i guess no-strings attatched sex can be seen as good harmless fun. this however goes down to indivual attitudes. for instance, i couldn't ever have sex with someone i don't love... i see sex as a connection on the deepest emotional level that i could only share with someone i was incredibly comfortable with. however, that's just me... i don't think there's anything wrong about casual sex, it's just not for me... and everyone can make their own choices on that, but obviously it's important people know what they're getting themselves into... true, it may only seem like a good idea at the time but people can take responsibility for themselves on that one...
  18. air guitar lost it's appeal to me when i actually learned how to play real guitar... now it's all about the air drums  :P
  19. what about monks? they don't masturbate or have sex... it's not a compulsive thing that means men have to release every so often... it's just not a chosen option ;) :P
  20. i air drum to jazz when i'm on my own.. hahaha
  21. what about monks then?

how bang out of order is this thread? everything's been said brilliantly already, i agree fully with ian, it's disappointing coming from a moderator. heathen chemist, you've successfully shown a great deal more immaturity than amanda. amanda has a good heart and is a great laugh- there are people i dislike on boardsi go to, just like in real life, but i don't shout it from the rooftops, i just get the fuck on with it. luckily though it seems that your attempt to put down others to make yourself look bigger has only made you seem a little pathetic...
  24. thanks :) anyone disagree, have any points to raise? tis an interesting debate...
  25. i am already extremely impressed as it is :D
