  1. If anyone would like to hear an apology for my slagging bands off all the time please go read my last message ever, it's under the COLDPLAY AREA AS TOPIC "Coldplay must suck at gcse music". Peace and love. (if you can't be bothered it basically goes, at least CP play with heart and soul and try really hard to help make the world better yadda yadda...)
  2. I'm just writing this post to make it official. I no longer slag off other bands. I don't care if some poeple don't like my taste in bands. It doesn't matter. I apologise for all my other posts ( though they were posted with good intent, but isn't good intentions the downfall of everything?) including, coldplay must suck at gcse music ( a pointless point made about how most CP songs ar in 4/4 time signature ie in my place, yellow the scientist) and CP are a half baked radiohead. It's all over, because the bootom line is if it wasn't for coldplay getting big a lot of other fans wouldn't get into more and more lovely music. Hell, i would never be a fan of radiohead if i never saw paranoid android on top of the pops, and now look at me, whining because i think someone isn't as cool as me. F*ck that!!!!! I'm not high or drunk right now, i really mean this, sorry. Peace and love and enjoy your music as long as it has soul you're alright. Pretty unlikely but if any CP members read this, soory too. At least you're playing with your heart which is twenty thousand times more than a lot of others and you really touch people. Gee, if you don't believe me read the passionate responses to my posts in the past. I can't be bothered writing this in the two other threads i have going but if anyone has the time please direct the nay sayers to this post here. So long! :D
  3. The idea was not to poke fun at Coldplay's music for using simple patterns, i just thought they could change it up a little bit and keep more interesting. No harm was meant. Peace. andy
  4. Thanks a lot for reading my opinions, but i think you're right. I'm going to stop arguing over which bands are best because ultimately die hard fans won't change their minds ever so lets just move on. Thank and good night.
  5. Ah yes the old "i've heard an opinion that doesn't fit with my feelings so go somewhere else" thing. I posted here because it's a coldplay website and i believe i was making a comment about differences between coldplay and radiohead. i think sometimes poeple on forums read what they want to read. Dyermaker you make a good point and i agree, radiohead were better in their dark days of making ok computer, the desperation in their music was more apparent. Sigur ros have over taken them i feel. Happy new year
  6. I think coldplay would be glad i bought the cd because i bought it with an open mind at least and gave it my full attention. I make no apologies for getting guy's name wrong as i have said from the start i don't know the band well so it seems unfair to judge my listening capabilities on how well i know the band's names! As for the george bush thing that was more about the fact that they have already decided how the oil in iraq will be distributed after the war. Also north korea are admitting they are making nuclear weapons yet for some reason america doesn't go after them. Dubya is merely finishing off what his dad couldn't. Did you know that 3 members of the bush cabinet have majority shares in iraq's major oil companies? This is bad i have to do this. All i ever said was it was unfair for chris martin to write stuff over his hand for make trade fair and oxfam etc, but as soon as i write about them my opinions are no longer relevant?! No-one has given a reason why this is so. All i have had is you're not welcome here, go somewhere else. All i wanted to do was put out a minority opinion and get the real fans to discuss it with me as i admitted i know little about the band itself but i know their music well. I really didn't mean, or deserve some of the criticisms i have taken here.
  7. Can you imagine? "Chris, name a time signature?" "4/4 miss" "Well done" "Buckland, name a time signature?" "Ooh, 4/4 miss?" and so on...
  8. HA ha. You're observation is so perfect, because yes they both play piano and the similarities end there. If chris martin ever writes something like pyramid song then you can talk of him in such high esteem.
  9. Yes it's true. Coldplay have yellow. Radiohead have Street Spirit. CP have Shiver. RH have Karma Police. CP have In my PLace. RH have Paranoid Android CP have The Scientist. RH have No Surprises. I could go on all day. Face it OK Computer is THE definitive album for emotion. Coldplay are good. Did you hear that, they are. They just lack too much in inventiveness. There is no way buckland is capable of pulling off JOnny Greenwood's playing in Paranoid Android or to come up with the idea of the mellotron and lots of weird delay and fuzz pedals. Just an observation
  10. Hey, sigur ros are fantastic. They have also released a soundtrack album for the film' angel of my heart' The language jonssi (singer) sings in is the noise he makes when he first thinks up a melody. As he believes this is the purest form of his music this is the way it stays for the album. You may notice the frequency of the 'words' (sic) eel sa da lo, on the album. The above explains why this is the case. Von is very hard to find, ie only on import cos they weren't signed to a major label then and still can't get the distribution. Bye, andrew
  11. Come on man, I said sorry and I meant it. No hard feelings eh?
  12. So still no thoughts on why it's ok for chris martin to champion these causes and not little old me. :-o Sorry for the 'ignorant' remark I got a bit wound up, but the first reply to my post was basically saying 'your anti-coldplay thoughts aren't welcome here'. I only posted here to get the other side of the story and maybe someone could change my thoughts on coldplay.
  13. so what's ok for chris martin isn't for me?? brilliant, just like I thought. This is a messageboard to 'discuss' things I thought? 'And the other stuff you could have kept to yourself' What sort of naive world are you living in? I suppose you think it's ok for chris martin to wax lyrical about these subjects and is forever writing stuff on his hands on tv appaerances, but as soon as a stupid old normal person discusses it, it is suddenly above my head or showing off or something??!! You didn't argue against one of my points, you just told me to post elsewhere. YOU are very ignorant.
  14. Now calm down and read this carefully. Chris MArtin is not god. The Scientist is not the most beautiful song ever. AROBTTH is over rated. REASONS the scientist starts lovely but johnny or whatever the guitarists name is just turns it into a dirge half way through. Could he not do something more imaginative than just strum in time to the piano. (This is exactly what lets Yellow down. It is so boring.) Listen to No Surprises by Radiohead and see what can be done with a simple melody. Politik is a strong opener, In My Place relies to much on production and the rest is simply run of the mill indie. And this is my point, I have no problem with Coldplay (if any music moves you to tears that great) they just aren't that special compared to innovaters like radiohead, tool, sigur ros. I feel stupid for having to pre-empt my defence but that's the way it is unfortunately. Merry Christmas :-) PS Chris Martin is kick ass for publicising a lot of important issues, fair trade, 3rd world debt. You've got my complete respect. And let's have what may be our last happy Christmas before Geeorge w Bush blows the world up by going after Iraq (and not Saudi Arabia who are known to have supplied 14 of the 17 hijackers of 9/11 airplanes)
